UVA Wins

You honestly think that UVA is a better team then CU? :wow:

UVA is Jekyl and Hyde team sort of like Maryland, except UVA stunk the first 3 games of year and has come on strong these last 3 games.

CU has lots of talent, if they ever get in sync they will be a good team; but right now they are more of a spaz with size and speed. They were playing on emotion against us; but after this loss they are going to need something besides a new "Tiger walk" to prepare them for the game.

I don't know what other standard to judge them by but they're playing better than Clemson is right now. They beat a damn good UNC team today.

Don't worry, 40 isn't old at all. I just had to make that comment after you talked about the "Cat Bird Seat," because the only other person I've ever heard talk about that was my grandmother and she's old as hell.

Your grandmother would have been old enough to have heard legendary New York Yankees radio announcer from the 1940s to the 70s originate that saying.

Great, I've been saying that for years not knowing its origination. Thanks for ruining it for me. GD yankees.

Sorry, I just don't see why UNC is that good. They beat a 2-5 Rutgers team, a UM team who was winless in the ACC until today, and UCONN, who lost to Rutgers. Oh, I forgot ND. They are real good. Also, they are playing their 2nd string QB and lost their best player for the year.

Even without Yates and Tate, they probably still have the best passing offense in the ACC.

Anyway, you can have Clemson and their wins over SC State, NC State, and the Citadel - I'll take UVA and their wins over UNC, ECU (whose shine has come completely off), and Maryland blowout.

UVA is a vastly improving team and we better be ready for them. They play stout football and looked very competitive against another stout team in UNC.

Would Brendan Tate have made a difference? What do you guys think?

I think it would have. Hakeem Nicks and Brendan Tate were great WR duo with Brendan having the reverse run and punt return threat. Of course, Brendan didn't produce much in the last couple of games prior to his unforunate injury but just being a threat out there on the field helps your team.

UNC's defense got lazy in the game-tying drive by UVA. It reminded me of our defense against GW's last drive. Also, the stats doesn't show it but UNC (I'm guessing Bruce Carter) tipped the game-tying extra point kick. But unlike Derrick Morgan's deflection that saved us from going into OT with GW... the ball barely went over the crossbar.

I think UNC is still a very talented team. They have a lot of great athletes on their team that can make plays on either side of the ball. Of course, I am going to also give some credit to UVA as well as they look like they have turned a corner and are in "full steam ahead" mode.

I have to disagree. Clems lost to the #2 Alabama team that blew the schnikes out of our beloved favorite rival. They then lost to the 'GOOD' Maryland team by only 3 and lost to the #1 in the Atlantic Wake team by only 5, before losing to us. If they come out with emotion and keep their defense clicking then I could easily see them beating BC, FSU, Duke, UVA and USCeast which would conclude their schedule. They haven't necessarily been a bad team, just maybe a few other teams were better. I am willing to lay down a bet right now that Clems goes 4-1 to finish the year and ends up in an east coast bowl.

This was a tough game and a nice win today...Clemson played with their hair on fire like coach said they would..It was an accomplishment to win in death Valley today..They were playing with a lot of emotion and the crowd was into it all game, so yes I agree with you, this was a great win for us.

:crybaby:

UNC SEASON HAS CRASHED. THEY HAD TO WIN TO STAY IN THE CHASE. THEIR SCHEDULE IS SO MUCH EASIER THAN OUR (ACC). NOW FOR THEM TO GET INTO CHAMPIONSHIP: VT HAS TO LOSE 3 TIMES AND THEY HAVE TO BEAT US AT HOME. IT IS OVER FOR THEM.:hay:

Yup, UNC is out but somehow UVA is back in - hopefully, we take care of that next week.

Did you notice John Saunders ridiculous comment from the studio after the UNC loss - that the teams most excited were the ones from non-BCS conferences. They were supposed to be excited because UNC was a "likely" ACC champion and they coul slip in and get the automatic bid. I don't know if he was trying to be anti-ACC or pro-UNC or both with that comment, but it was a stupid thing to say. UNC is pretty unlikely to be the ACC champion.

OK did any of you actually watch the UVA UNC game? UNC should have won that game if they didn't give up 3 turnovers and not force any against UVA. Speaking of which, even after giving up 3 turnovers, UVA still had to go to overtime to settle the score. AND they were able to go second in overtime, which is a huge advantage.

UNC had more rushing yards, total yards, and time of possession that UVA; but the killer was that they had 3 turnovers and UVA had 0.

If you look at their ECU win, they rushed for over 200 yards (not going to happen against us). So they established the run and won because of it.

If you look at their Maryland win, they rushed for over 200 yards and were ahead in the turnover margin (UMD 2 UVA 0). Having both of these in their favor, they pulled off a pretty large margin of victory.

This team is averaging 170 passing yards a game. Seriously why are you all worried about these guys? They have just been able to establish the run and get ahead in the turnover margin for the past three games against teams that are just as good or worse than we are. All we have to worry about is not turning over the ball (seems like a recurring theme). Our only weakness on defense is the pass and UVA is terrible at passing offense.

As Michael Johnson said, we are the only thing that can beat us. If we don't get in our own way, we win the rest of our games (yes, and even the one against the UGays).

RIGHT ON, Cajun

I watched the entire game and VT/ BC as well. UNC pissed it away. Thieir D got tired and let UVA go wild the last 2:55. GAME NOTE for 10/18 UVA throws to the TE!!!! Anyway UNC dominated the game and could not finish. We will handle the Hoos next week. Remember what they did to us last year?

If you watch the two games before this UNC won and got spanked in the stats by both ND and UConn. Thing have a way of evening out. I personally think that this UNC team was very overrated. I think as the season goes on we will see them drop to a 7-5 team. Butch Davis still caries alot of weight in the polls.
