Va Tech....

I'm glad VT won. They got robbed on their 2nd to last posession on a pass interference no-call.

VT losing just makes our conference look worse and that's the only reason I'm happy they won.

if you "get lucky" all the time, then its just not luck
you make your own luck
you have to be ready to take advantage of the luck you do get

and on and on

quit whining, they do what it takes to win. they believe, thats how they do it.

Bobby Dodd's teams were also known for impeccable "luck." You'd be surprised that if always have people in the right spot at the right, even if they don't have all the talent in the world, the stars start aligning for you.

Amen to that. I used to be a guy to call luck all the time on teams I detested. But if the team keeps winning close games (Patriots in the 21's century), it isn't luck. It's a winning instinct. It's a team that refuses to lose and doesn't give up.

I give credit to Coach Beamer for always instilling that instinct into his team.s

Beamer's teams (and results) are a lot like Dodd's.

I agree that it's petty and silly to whine about an enemy who seems to get lucky a lot. And I would also agree that it's silly to believe that certain teams are "always" lucky, especially over periods of years.

But I also think that it's absurd to deny that luck plays a huge role in football and most other sports. No team wins a championship without some good luck and a lot of great teams have been stopped by bad luck.

I have to say OSU-Houston was a good example of this. Based on the highlight I saw, I've never seen pure, outright luck go against a team like that.

You have to get some breaks but when you're good you're also in position to take advantage. How many balls get loose for example that bad teams don't get? It's usually because they aren't where they're supposed to be. Did you see the Bengals lose opening day? When that ball was tipped up, both of the other DBs were out of position.
