Sorry if this is a repost. I tried searching but couldn't find this posted elsewhere. He speaks a lot about his time at TECH.

Vad Lee will forever be dichotomous. Because he's obviously a nice kid, and a good football player...BUT he essentially called his teammates talentless by saying the option can only be successful when you have Dwyers, Nesbitts, Thomas, etc.

I can't forget that statement.

It's true though. Justin doesn't say it but he shows it by not trusting them. And hence we can't run the option.

Reggie and Vad threads in the same week? We must have a lot of pent up, misdirected anger following Notre Dame and Duke.

If memory serves, there was also some brief discussion on AJ Suggs. And I also brought up Taylor Bennett in jest.

I think that's just about everyone.

It's like getting mad at your current girlfriend, so you're going through facebook looking at your exes profiles and reminiscing. Amirite?

JT performed a lot better vs. ND and Duke this year than Vad would have, even with the mistakes he made.

Vad belongs sitting in a pocket.

Good for him. If he had a good offensive line and we were a pro set team, we could have done some special things with him. But it didn't work out. It seems he was homesick and not having family around took a toll on him. I can relate to that, I was like that my first 6 months at Tech. I hope he succeeds wherever he goes and if he makes it to the NFL, I'll root for him.

Having said that, in Justin we trust. He's a winner, he already showed us that last year and we still got a season and a half with him. He's the quarterback you want running in the flexbone formation and we'd be lucky to get another one like him afterwards.

So the option doesn't work if you don't have the athletes to run the system? Which kind of offense can dominate defenses without good athletes? Maybe we can switch to that one.

I keep thinking of how he quit in the Music City Bowl...this isn't about him so wish him well and hope he shuts his mouth about Tech.:furious:

Didn't Vad have essentially the same talent around him as JT had last year? Worked out pretty good for us.

None really. But Vad knew he wasn't an option quarterback. CPJ knew that too, which is why he tailored it a little bit to his strengths. But we didn't have the line to even run pistol.

The beauty about the option is when you have seasoned veterans you can run it to perfection without having to be the team with better athletes. But you need a good option quarterback and you need seasoned veterans. We had both last year, we only have the QB this year and it's faltering.

Vad is a very good FCS quarterback and a bad FBS quarterback. We saw that two years ago.

I'm glad he didn't come back. Vad and JT would've both been getting PT early in the season and regardless of who ended up being the full time starter, I don't think we have the season we had last year with both. And Vad obviously didn't care about GT. Vad and GT are better off now.

That's just a ridiculous statement. They weren't blowing the doors off anyone last year early on. It got better as season moved fwd. We had issues last year too, but played great down the stretch.

To make a blanket statement like " and hence we can't run the option," is just ridiculous.

I wish Vad would shut his mouth about GT. He needs to moved on. There are people on this board that say too much too.

It is what it is. If you don't have guys playing well in other skill positions you can't run any offense. JT5 can't do everything himself. I'm not saying they won't learn to block or catch down the stretch. They might or might not. We'll see. Right now they haven't really done it.

And Vad can say whatever he wants. GT was a big part of his college career and obviously people are gonna ask him about it. I didn't hear him say anything too terrible about our program.

Is that more soothing to your butthurt?

We did a huge disservice to Vad. Didn't implement a system that took advantage of his obvious talents. Square peg in a round hole.

He was bad for this system. Which is why it was curious why we would recruit a QB with his talents without changing the system to take advantage of them.

We tried to do exactly that, and it didn't work.
