A re-ranking of the 2005 top prospects. Vance Walker is ranked at #22.

"22. Vance Walker, Georgia Tech, DT
The very unheralded recruit's heart and quickness apparently were underestimated; Tech only had to beat East Carolina and Georgia Southern for Walker. He was often unblockable this past season, making 14 TFLs for the Yellow Jackets."

Is he still on the team...or did he bolt the NFL?

Not sure if you are actually asking the question ... But, heck yes, he's still on the team!

Good. Its been hard to keep up, as I haven't really seen a depth chart yet since spring practice hasn't started. Glad to see that our defensive line should be fine.

Edit: And yeah, he was me asking. Text font got screwed up in the copy/paste, somehow.

I remember people were really unhappy with Walker's commitment because he was only two stars and was a last minute commit "out of nowhere". I remember hearing what a reach he was, and that if he was any good the big boys would have gotten his commit a year earlier.

I also remember seeing his film from the SC shrine game and seeing how quick he was and thinking that we got a player.

The moral: go off film on a guy if you've got it, and look for frame, athleticism, and how he fits into a team's scheme. If he's got all 3 and is 2 star, he'll likely out perform his ranking.
