Nice job Axe however I disagree about Vanderbilt's secondary. They finished DEAD LAST in the nation last year and most offenses had their way with them on the ground and in the air. If the Vandy D-line cannot get pressure on our QB(s) and stop the run it will be a long day and 450 yards later for the Dores.

I like your final score though.

sorry to move you Bees,

but we are going to lock down the scouting report topics then create a new thread for comments with a link to the scouting report.

here is the link to the scouting report

LINK

in the future Axe just go ahead and close it after you post it.

then when someone wants to add or comment they can just create a new thread and put the link at the top of the new thread

Beesnut, you could be right. I just felt like their defensive troubles had more to do with their very poor defensive front. I feel like if our guys move the chains and the play-calling has a nice flow to it, the passing yards and big plays will come. I just don't expect to see our WRs so dominate that they beat their secondary with just physical ability. They've got some talent at CB.

Sometimes when a talented offense plays a weak defensive unit, they lack patience and force things. We can't do that against Vandy. Their secondary can make plays, but obviously nobody can cover if there is no rush.

Great job Axe.
I am sure we will not get out-co-ordinated either offensively or defensively but we very well might get out-headcoached. Vandy's Johnson seems to be a very solid college head coach.
Of course with our talent versus theirs there really is no contest.

Vandy goes down.

no problem gtfan.

Axe I agree it could very well have to do with their lack of d-line pressure but again with the short passing game the BOB likes to employ coupled with the typical five to seven yard cushion that Smith, Watkins, and Co. typically receive it bodes for a very good day... especially if our QB(s) live up to the hype on their respective arms.

terriffic post, Axe !

I figure Vandy to stick around for a half, and your final score looks pretty good. However, if they CAN'T hold us off for a half, that's a really good sign for CG and our program. That will mean that we will be focussed immediately.

GO Jackets!!

(Thanks for the explanation, gtfan,I wrote this a while ago, but couldn't get it to post)

Thanks for the Preview, Axe. I think we'll win this game because our O-Line will wear out their D-line. Not only should we be able to run the ball, but if we pass block well, that will give our receivers time to get open.

I look for a sluggish first half as both teams try to iron out the problems of a normal first game. Then, I think our talent and line of scrimmage wins out in the second half.

Honestly, I think we have the ability to put 40 points or more on them. But given that this is a 1st game and our QB will be a newbie, I see 30 points as a more likely amount.

As soon as our lead is safe (if it ever is), I think we'll revert to more basic run plays and run down the clock and wear out their DL even more as we pound them with Dorsey and Robinson and a fullback.

The one wrinkle I'll be looking forward to seeing is the Bilbo offense and the option attack. If that wreaks some havoc with them, we might be able to really pore it on, so to speak.

Defensively, I hope they try and run the ball alot. I think we can handle that. A good passing game scares me, but like you said, they also are breaking in a new QB.

In any event, 37-13 is a reasonable prediction. I'm thinking 30-13, but in either case, it's a safe win.
