One of our own, John Dewberry has cancer. I don't know a lot of details but I spoke with Todd Rampley last night. Keep John in your prayers as he fights this next battle.

John,

Tony C here. When was John diagnosed, and have they decided that there is nothing that can be done?

I am so sorry to hear that.

If anybody can come back from it, he can.

Sad situation for John. Prayers go out to him and his wonderful family.

Awful news. I really liked that young man. He was, is, and always will be a winner.

Just damn. He was one of my favorite GT players growing up. I will keep him in my prayers.

That's sad to hear. He's had a great career post football, too. I've personally never had the chance to work on his developments, but I've worked with folks who have. Everyday I'm reminded of him because I live next door to Dewberry Isle. It's amazing what high acheivers our student athletes become.

Thank you for the information. We will lift him up with our prayers, love, and support.

He was the first Tech QB of whose name I was cognizant. The All American Bowl vs. Michigan State is one of my all time favorite games. I think I was 8 when I watched that one.

He definitely was part of giving Tech teams personality to me.

Our prayers go out to him and his.

Seems like we just lost the 'young lefthander', then George Morris, and now John Dewberry, three great, near legendary GT men . Bobby Dodd and Al Ceraldo must enjoy the company!

God bless John and his family.

That is so very sad. I'll be praying for John and his family for sure. I still have vivid memories of watching him lead GT to a great win over the mutts in 84 in Athens.

God bless him!

Sober up man. He's not dead. He's ill.

For Pete's sake. Are you really that stupid?

Bad news. I hope there's more something positive to report. Please keep us posted and I'll try and look around myself.

Why bring such unnecessary negativity to an already sad thread?

My prayers and thoughts go out to John and his family. Very sad news, indeed.

Yeah well, He actually didn't play that game. T. Rampley did! After Dew took it to UGA's ASS in Athens he got busted for open container or DUI ...something .. but yea he kicked the crap out of UGA. Sorry he is an a bad way! Rampley had the game of his life v.s Lorenzo White/MSU .et. al.

My understanding it has to do with his colon. Don't hold me too that, I'm trying to find out more infomation.
