Very Strange Season

Gotta understand the big picture, rather than have "uga on the brain to point that it paralyzes you"

For 2 Decades, the 80s and the 90s, Fla State & Miami usually played when both Teams were in the Top10, some times Top5

The games meant more, carried more Natl attention, and most importantly in the eyes of Fla HS Recruits, it sent the Message ," do I want to go to FSU or Miami" because both Teams were always at high level it made Recruits think that they "had" to choose one or the other

When the rivalry is too lopsided the best Players in the State get wandering eyes and want to go out of State

Beating a 3-8 uga Team going into COFH doesn't moves the meter among Recruits vs beating an 11-0 uga Team, we do that and we'll be talked about in this State for 364 Days, and we'll be the darlings of Sports Talk Radio , and the in State Media

No one talks about great rivalries if one Team is a turd entering the game, the ND - USC Game with Bush & Leinart is still talked about, they still show the highlights on occasion because both Teams were having strong seasons at the Time

Notice how you never hear Ohio State or Michigan Fans say , "I hope the other Team loses every Game", both Team's Fans are savvy enough to know , the way to inflict maximum pain on the other Fanbase is beat the other when they are undefeated and ruin their Season (used to be knocking the other out of the Rose Bowl, now it means knocking the other from the CFP)

The truth is we shouldn't care what uga does the 11 Gms leading up to our Game, but if we want to inflict maximum pain on the Mutt Nation, the best way to do it is to beat them when they are undefeated with CFP implications hanging in the balance, that's how a Champion thinks

I'd like the GT vs uga Game to get more Natl Media Attention, the only way for that to happen is have both Teams with good records going into the Game

Think maximum pain for them, maximum exposure for us

That's called a win-win, but you have to have vision

Well yes, but, Tech has only beaten a Top Ten UGA team once in its history I believe. Secondly, when we beat UGA three in a row the local UGA rag stated that Tech was now the big dog in the state. Those are important issues to consider also.

Put the exact same game on the field, but make Clemson and NC St SEC teams, and they’d both be in the top 10

Yes but the ACC has not performed the last few years and the attention is always on certain teams: GT, FSU, VT and Miami in particular. As GT goes, so goes the conference.

You might want to start this action plan next year. Because we could stomp their asses this year, but if they are undefeated beforehand, even a loss in the SEC CG will get them into the CFP. Even if we run the table with an ass-kicking on them and a win in the ACC CG, a two-loss Tech team with an FCS loss isn't getting us in.

This year we would get in.

I appreciate your reasoning but I disagree with your conclusion. A single win over a good UGA team isn’t going to change anything. It will piss off UGA fans which is great.

Tech needs sustained success and that will take care of Tech. To actually hurt UGA, they would need to be mediocre while Tech was very good for about 6 years. Enough time to influence HS players and football fans to adjust their allegiance.

We will never be more popular than UGA but we used to have a high percentage of the ITP population. We can make in-roads there.

You have obviously never spoken with a Michigan or Ohio State fan. One, they revel in the suffering of their rival. Two, no one has ever, even by accident, described an Ohio State fan as ‘savvy’.

I knew I recognized the condescending fatherly tone to your banter. Now I recognize the lack of periods at the end of sentences.

WrexNEffect is that you?

So true. My neighbor is an OSU fan, and he hates Michigan as much as I hate UGA.

I know an Ohio State fan. He grew up in Columbus. He will not even say "Michigan" when referring to their rival. Won't even say it. He wants Michigan to lose every game, then get hit by a meteor. No way he would want Michigan to come into their game undefeated. He wants Michigan wiped from the earth

All this craziness aside it will end up exactly like most have lately with Bama winning it all.
IDK, 2007 was the strangest year of college football, and the number 2 team pretty much every week starting week 3 or week 4 lost out. So good news is, this will happen this week.

I want them undefeated and dreaming of the CFP and we kick their effin azzes in their own backyard, (explained above) we gain more from a Recruiting aspect by beating them ourselves when they are good trying to make the playoffs

I want to make them suffer personally
So, nice scenario but you don’t even realize that GT plays them at home this year.

The CV19 year threw me off, stadium be damned, as long as we ruin their chances at the CFP and make them suffer, it will be a glorious day on The Flats.
