VPI weasels their way into a BCS game once again...

And they only beat Nebraska due to ACC refs. It's an OOC game, but still. This is why I do not feel that they deserve or earned the ACC title.

So who did deserve the ACC title, if the ones who won it based on on-the-field results didn't?

I believe it should've been us vs. BC in Tampa, and in my opinion the reason that didn't happen was due to officiating in our game against VT. Yes, we could've beaten UVA or UNC to get it done, but at the same time, I believe if the GT@VT game was called by the book that we would've been in Tampa in their place.

Clearly we deserved it based on Style Points ®

Why should a stupid loss to VPI matter? Do they run a unique offense? NO! Do they have the Coach of the Year? HECK NO! Do they have the Player of the Year? NO FREAKIN' WAY!

I don't see how you can compare the power of on the field results to the magic of STYLE POINTS!

Last year, a 10-2 nadlicker team missed out on the SEC dance because they lost to T. And oh, how the whining ensued!

It's time for us to STFU!

I'm not buying this either - we lost that game because we couldn't hold on to the ball and because we couldn't tackle Taylor.

VPI's last drive, the score was tied 17-17, so even if you take that drive away completely you only get overtime, not a win for us. In addition, one of the 15-yarders on that drive was absolutely a correct call. Whether we would have gotten the same call if the roles were reversed I doubt, but nevertheless it was our foul and a correct call "by the book".

To say the refs were the primary or even a serious factor in losing this game is lame.

I hate it as much as anyone --but we lost to VT, we lost to UVA and we lost to UNC.

The home loss to UVA is what stings me the most --the fumble on the UVA 5 (IIRC) and the simple fact that our defense could not shut down UVA when it mattered.

VT edged us out on the strength of head-to-head. It's very hard for me to pull for them --if I considered nothing but Cincinnati's team and Virginia Tech's team then I would like to see the Bearcats romp all over them.

But since the freakin' Hokies are in our conference, and our conference has this stigma of losing seven straight BCS bowl games, I hope they win --not 'pulling' for them, they just need to win.

Seriously, if VT is the best we can do, let's just give it up. VT football, no real control, by a less than a real serious coach, with no real morals when it comes to recruiting and keeping players on track to graduate.Just IMO.

Well, there are always questions about control of athletes, but I wouldn't go off on graduating players too much until we improve our record there. You know, the glass houses thing?
