Waste of money: Georgia State Stadium

Its not dorms. Its a 300 million dollar development partnered with Carter USA and includes retail, apartments, condos, private dorms etc. Think Atlantic Station with a athletic component.
I have lived in Atlanta and North Georgia for all of my 50 years. The city has claimed that the I20 corridor there has been getting renewed every decade. Nobody wants to live there. My sisters step daughter moved there a decade or so and claimed they were really revitalizing the area. After yearly burglaries and a near car jacking, the sold out several years ago and moved to Dunwoody, having had enough. Had to keep the grill on the deck chained even just to keep it from getting stolen during the day.

What next? you gonna tell me the area around Aarons Lakewood is up and coming?

When Life Chiropractic College was teetering on bankruptcy, they tried to sell the campus, which is a very nice campus, to SPSU since the two are next door to each other and SPSU needed the space and would have liked to grown a bit. The BOR turned down the proposal. I guess buying a football stadium for Georgia State makes much more sense. Now, SPSU is no more and is a part of KSU (after one time being part of GT, but breaking away in 1982). Our BOR is pretty well a useless group of bureaucrats.

And they're doing it with GT money. The BOR collects 100% of GT's tuition payments and only allocates 1/3rd back to GT. The other 2/3rds goes to other schools in Georgia.

I realize they're probably not using it for the stadium and instead use it to keep down the cost of tuition at places like Fort Valley State and Valdosta State, but it still pisses me off that they do this.

More organized, as well. I've offered to be a bag man at least a dozen times and I still haven't been contacted.

Because you expect someone else to fill the bag. Dude, sell a watch or something.

Still waiting to see pics of cgi ladies.

Well "we" SPSU was going to spend a öööö ton less money and actually get a nice campus out of it already connected to the current Marietta campus.

If Georgia State pays for this and doesn't have to take in additional state funding somewhere, it will be a miracle. it is a lot of money for a few folks to see 7 ballgames a season. it will be a boondoggle.
There are no its. Again you're coming in 2 years later with your reservations but thanks for your concern even if you're misinformed. [emoji2]

I live in East Atlanta and go to church in Grant Park. Every boarded up house in the area had crews working group on them as of 7 weeks ago once it was apparent this deal was going through. So yeah you are misinformed.

Name calling...nice. Out of the mouth of a guy who can't afford to live in Grant Park likely. But hey you likely know more than people who have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years. LOL.

You're right. The reason I don't live in the utopia of Grant park is because I am a poors. :bfd:

Is this “Tex” McIver, the dude who killed his wife accidentally because he felt threatened while driving through Midtown Atlanta?
He did shoot up a Mustang with 3 teens in it in DeKalb in 1990 and got away with it. I believe he felt threatened in that case by all the raw power of a Mustang GT. Of course, the actual police report from that case, last I heard, somehow got misplaced and cannot be found. Amazing how that happened.
