Way too early speculation...

Well ask yourselves this, if you were given the reins of Georgia Tech football and given an opportunity to build a team that wins 10 games, maybe become a playoff team or even win the whole thing would you go to Bama if they offered you $10M instead of $4M? We will build a statue for the man if he can accomplish those things but Bama would fire him in 2 years if he’s not making the playoffs. When Geoff Collins said that this was his dream job I didn’t believe him for a second but without Key making any such remarks I know this is his dream job. He’s here for life.

I believe RichRod loved WVU. He had them humming at a pretty high level. But he left for the money.

Our ceiling is likely 9 win seasons. With the playoff system, we could probably make a once a decade appearance by winning the ACC.

Is that enough to satisfy a top coach? There aren’t many like the coach at Iowa. Most will leave a good situation to take a shot at being a college football legend like Saban, not a school legend like Beamer.

Naïveté is not as cute as you think it is

Say CBK continues to recruit and build a staff and become more coaching savvy. Say we get a few 10+ win seasons in a row in 3-4 years...

CLEARLY other, bigger programs would be coming for Key. To my knowledge he only has a relationship with Bammer and of course Tech.

I think it would take a lot to get Key away from us, but you can't blame a guy for getting his dough if given an opportunity at a so-called "Top Program"

Any other schools that Key might have any connection with that might tempt him? I think Bammer's gotta be one due to history and history

I agree.

But a shot at a "traditional football power" with financial security should and would likely be considered at some point. Who might have an in, like did his dad play somewhere, any other family, any ADs he might have worked under before, any kids approaching college years? Etc
I just don't see that ever happening. I think he truly LOVES Georgia Tech

There is enough money in Atlanta to pay him no matter who calls. But as noted, with the big paycheck come the requirements for unreasonable results. Especially with the parity brought about by the NIL system.
