According to the polls. I've never been so disgusted with the polls in my life. These people have their head so far up their ass its not even funny. How is Wake, UNC, FSU, and Maryland better than we are? We could win out going into the UGA game and still be ranked no better than #18.

Has anyone even bothered to look at who we've played?
 
I don't understand FSU. They get votes because for some reason, the media thinks they should be good. You can, at least, make arguments for the other teams, especially Maryland. Anyways, when we take care of business, we'll get our credit.

This was a bad week to have a bye. Plenty of room to squeeze into the top 25 if you win, but if you aren't playing then nobody thinks to up your rank.

Don't expect us to be ranked until after Clemson, BOR. Quit freaking out about it. Plenty of teams are going to lose.

I think if we're 5-1 in a couple of weeks we'll sneak in. Without that loss to VT, I think we'd be sniffing top 10.

We really need to make the next two games--statement games. Really just come out and show what we're made of.

That's the tragedy. We'd be squarely tops in the ACC if we hadn't lost to VT. We were beaten by a worse team that day.

Good point --if the Miss St win came this weekend then I feel that GT probably cracks the top 25. Give it a couple of more weeks.

What sux about it is that GT could be 6-1 with a win @Clemson and will probably be around 17-20, while the likes of Florida, Auburn, Ohio St, Kansas, Wisconsin --if they win their upcoming games over the same stretch, will be sniffing the top 10.

It is completely ridiculous.

Think about this: our crappy team from last year was ranked #14 at one point. Unreal.

Maybe that's why people are hesitant to annoint us. I don't blame them. Let's see if we can beat Duke and Clemson.
 
We haven't beaten anybody good. BC and MSU are mediocre teams. Take a close loss to a decent team and $1 and you almost got a Starbucks coffee.

If you're going to rank Tech, who you gonna take out of the top 25?

Who has UF beat? Who has Auburn beat with their high-powered Urban wannabe offense? MSU 3-2? UT 14-10?

The whole problem here results from preseason polls, wherein some serious group-think happens, specifically in relation to the SECheat. The really sad thing is I see buy-in on Tech boards, too. Five teams in the top 10? That's absurd! Truly just absurd!

Yet we deny recent head-to-head records, and bowl records to support those assertions simply because we haven't been able to beat their champion, and win a BCS bowl.

But we beat the better team in Boston the week before.

I think we'll be ranked 24 or 25 if we blow out Duke and GW. Beat Duke, but don't blow them out and well have to wait until we spank Clemson to be ranked. If, however, CPJ legally changed his last name to Bowden, then we'd be ranked 12th right now.

What is the over/under on our rushing yards over the next 2 weeks? I'm guessing a 1/2 mile.

You may be right about BC but I think that they may turn out to be better than many have thought.

That, sadly, is the truth. It's the reason that Clemson was ranked last week. This season has been just another example of why preseason polls are bad. Yes, I think we have a team that could beat over 75% of the other teams in this nation, and we should be ranked in the top 25. But, we didn't make that throw at the end of the VT game, so we're not. If we beat Duke and Clemson, we'll be ranked. Until then, we can all just enjoy watching UGA implode. Here's a better question: what's the line on us being ranked higher then the mutts come Thanksgiving?

I agree 100%, and I think that uga will only lose to LSU until we play them (before the season, I had Florida too, but the way they've played this season has shaken that faith). If we win out leading up to the game with a two-loss uga team, we should be ranked highter than them. If we have as many or fewer losses than them, then we will not.

Unless Richt can find a way to make them smarter, I see them losing either Florida or Auburn as well as LSU. I don't think a 1-loss us would be ranked higher then a 2 loss UGA, precisely because of how lousing the voters are, but I don't see UGA making it to Thanksgiving with only 2 losses.
