According to the AJC and Chan Gailey we COULD lose "three or four players" due to academics. See details at ajc.com.

Please pray for our players and keep your fingers crossed. We can't afford to lose ANYBODY!!!! Injuries did us NO favors last year.

Unfortunately this is not a surprise.
Coach O'leary was so strict about players going to class that they literally were afraid of the consequences of missing classes and having to face him.
From what I understand, it is not that way now at all.
A shame really.

The "three or four" players that they are refering to are old news: Kuale is gone, Gary Johnson and Sterling Green have to make the grades in summer school. I think that they will.

Relax.

You're right, beeware. O'Leary was so strict about players attending class that nobody ever failed out.

Not Joe Burns.
Not Berwin Echols.
Not Selwyn Scott.

Nobody.

beeware, what do you mean "from what I understand?" From whom, what, when, where? Put up or u know. Yeah I really believe that Gailey et al are really lax on players going to class. Yeah right. Especially in light of former bigbee's 33% grad rate.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Which is why Burns is still with us huh Beeware.... which is why the Lavette kid is still with us... the list could go on...

When I agree with you I say so... and when you are full of crap, you are full of crap.....

The majority of the players didnt like to face GOL period... not only because they didnt like him.....but because they didnt respect him.... some detested him because he didnt even know their names....

I can tell you this, it is quite evident that you only know what you read about O'Leary... and didnt know O'Leary..... I am curious here.... can you even say that you shook his hand? For you to "know" so much about him and his ways... why do I get the feeling that you never even spoke to the man....or better yet... just one player that played for him...

Are you sure you guys are not NC State guys? You definitely have the 'Pack' mentality.
The discipline level has definitely changed and this is one way it is showing up.
Why you guys think you can stamp out every opinion except your own is kind of strange, kind of funny, kind of sad, and very revealing.

I really don't think Chan is going to be lax with academics. Our graduation rate is low. I'm SURE that one of his MAIN goals is to get that rate UP and not only that, if they are holding players out of practice (Gary Johnson for example) then they want those players to focus on academics FIRST and football second. Like someone said on the Hive, do you think they'd do that at FSU, Miami, Tennessee, or even UGAG???

NO WAY!

I think the thing to notice is that this is rehashed old news. Why, because Harrick is losing his entire recruiting class. God forbid the AUC print something bad about UGA without also having something about Tech to go along with it. Even if you have to make S*#@ up.

Beeware, just how do you know so much about the discipline level and what has "changed" around the program? Just where the hell do you live and how much time do you spend with the coaches and players? As far as I'm concerned you're just some dog who likes to make crap up to get people fired up. Just how did Chan cause these guys to have bad grades? And if he is somehow guilty then you must be willing to admit that O'Leary is the guilty party for our 33% grad rates?

By the way, this is just what I was talking about in another thread. We are talking about the possible loss to academics of a couple of players and you bring your Gailey bashing into something it has no place in. You are either monumentally stupid or just the pest/jerk everyone seems to think.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">ncjacket,
You are completely full of 'IT'. I did not mention Chan Gailey. You just can't tolerate an opinion different than yours. Seems to be a trend around here.

losing players happens. It is a sad fact of higher education.

There is a 10% attrition rate at Ugag law school and noone is getting in there b/c they run a 4.2 forty.

I just hope it stays at a minimum.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I'm not an AJC basher, but I think you're on to something, CJ. The Harrick debacle is just incredible and all dawgs ought to be humiliated. The AJC IS downplaying it when it should be a BIG story. Does Harrick have ANY consciece as a recruiter? Dos UGAG generally?

beeware, as before, what is your source the "the level of discipline has really changed", what is your proof? You might be correct, I do not know. But how do you know? If you can not prove what you are saying you are just a waste and it has nothing to do with anyone disagreeing with you.
