Definitely don't want to play like 'em. Maybe they'll bring out the Motor City Madman, and the greatest from Motown.

We *could* take the approach that we are a 7-5 team and any appreciate any bowl were in, regardless of prestige. At least we dont have to play a MAC team. I'm actually looking forward to playing a Big 10 team that we rarely get to play, if ever.
 
I just hope we don't put on another Emerald Bowl type performance. We could have cared less about being in the game and it showed. I think that Utah WR is still scoring TD's on Tenuta's defense.

We have 80 kids on our team just like USC. Some have already tweeted their thoughts on our bowl. I don't think they feel this game is beneath them, but they are aware we had the record that deserved to go elsewhere. The grown-ups got involved. This is an aftermath of the CFP that severely devalued the "leftover" bowl games. We could easily cancel a dozen bowl games like Quicklime and Bad Boy Mowers, Idaho Potato, Birmingham and nobody but ESPN would care.
 
Thank you for posting this. I thought of the exact same scenario once I saw the uproar from the fans and the players. It's CPJ's last game at Tech. Regardless of where/when/who we are playing, we should be focused on sending him out right.
 
I think the team is pissed about playing up there. I think they’re going to play pissed off too, which will be good. Also, they’re going to want to send CPJ out with a win.

Let it be a motivation for them. Go out to Detroit after complaining about it and lose the game, you kinda make the point of the people who picked you to go there. Go out there and destroy a Big10 team and make a statement.

My hope is that the players winning one for the coach on the way out will override the apathy the team showed when playing in Boise against Fresno St. or the Emerald Bowl debacle.

IF GT shows up and cares, they win.
 
I am not upset about our opponent...I think it is good to play B10 opponents sometimes, what I am upset about is other bowls deliberately ignoring us for teams that we beat.

That would presuppose that CPJ gives a hoot about getting his team up for this game.
 
One upside is field conditions won't be an issue like they've been in some of the other shit bowls we've played in.

Why would he not? His competitive fire isn’t an issue. Other things, sure, but wanting to win hasn’t been.
 
Man I just hope Boyz ii men is going to be the halftime show.
 
My main gripe is less about the bowl slot and more about the location. Obviously bowl slot would have given us a closer bowl, but even Birmingham would have been awesome. I have nothing personal against the quicklane bowl.

It should be a Big Ten vs MAC matchup. Makes no sense to have an ACC team here. Although I guess similar things could be said about the Sun Bowl. We should work our way into that Bahamas bowl instead of this one.

I halfway agree, though I do not think conference tie-ins should be completely based on geography.
