We Don't Want To Act Like USC Did When They Played Us In The Sun Bowl...

We *could* take the approach that we are a 7-5 team and any appreciate any bowl were in, regardless of prestige. At least we dont have to play a MAC team. I'm actually looking forward to playing a Big 10 team that we rarely get to play, if ever.
Truth is, and this should motivate our players and fans, is that we have never beaten Minnesota in football.

But it wont - we all know this. Its just the way it is.
The thing with CPJ going out might help. The only other thing I can think of is that Minnesota doesn't want to be there either.
Maybe we will not want to be there - less than them.

Well, I think Minnesota was lookin' California

It looks like Minnesota's recent bowl history is pretty similar to ours. They have played in 7 bowls in the last 10 years, the high point being the 2014 season when they played in the New Years Day Citrus Bowl (lost to MO). The other bowls were: Insight, Car Care, Texas, QuickLane, and Holiday. So, I don't think the enthusiasm level will be much in their favor or ours, and the Dome will take weather issues out of the equation. By the time the game is played, I think we'll be over the legitimate complaints about the bid and play with our usual enthusiasm.

I am not upset about our opponent...I think it is good to play B10 opponents sometimes, what I am upset about is other bowls deliberately ignoring us for teams that we beat.
GT must be bad for business, then, since bowls are most interested in getting the most eyeballs on their product and seats in the stadium for their sponsors?

The only times I think this was true were the USC Sun Bowl and the Seattle Bowl. I've lost count of how many bowls I've gone to where I tried to think of all the things that might motivate the team to play with effort and energy against a team that was "just happy to be there," and then watched us lay an egg. Fresno State, twice. Utah, Air Force, and probably others that I'm repressing.

I like the intersectional matchup . We see far to few of these types of games anymore. I 'd like to see GT work out a home & home with California or another Pac12 team. A game against a Big 12 or Big 10 team would be OK too.
I am just tickled this team got to a bowl & won 7 games when at one point this season it sure did not seem very likely.
I was excited about CPJ & next year with our returning talent too , thought we had a real good chance to win our division.Who knows ? We might do it anyway.
Just an aside as an OF that has watched college football for about 60 years or so I recall when the Golden Gophers went to the Rose Bowl , (was it 1961 ?) heavily favored over the Washington Huskies but lost to the underdog Huskies . What I remember most about that game is the way the numbers looked on Washington's jerseys they were really cool with a curved look .

I think the team is pissed about playing up there. I think they’re going to play pissed off too, which will be good. Also, they’re going to want to send CPJ out with a win.
They will be playing not to get hurt so as not to jeopardize their audition for Coach Whisenhunt this spring.
