There is still a mighty good possibility that the Gator takes 8-3 Fla St, the Peach takes 8-3 Virginia & the Champ Sports takes 8-3 Miami, if Va Tech wins the ACC outright by beating Miami.
If Miami beats Va Tech to finish 9-2 & go to the BCS, the Gator may take 9-3 Va Tech, the Peach takes 8-3 UVa & 8-3 Fla St goes to the Champ Sports or the Gator takes FSU & Champ Sports takes VT.

Re: Not yet

I really dont see Miami or VT falling below the gator, and i can't see FSU falling all the way to the champs. possible, but i think we may have this one locked up.

I gotta believe

that the Gator is locked onto Fla St. The wild card is then which matchup the Peach wants. If VT goes to BCS, then the Peach has a choice of an intriguing rivalry gm of Florida-Miami or Florida-Virginia with Virginia a better traveling team than Miami.
If Miami goes to the BCS, then the choices are Florida-Virginia or Florida-Va Tech & the Peach would take Fla-VT.
Also, if the Peach wants to sell tickets, then Florida-Ga Tech would sell out in a heartbeat. A dollar, tho, says it's Fla-UVa or Fla-VT.

Thread should read................

"We were given the CHAMPS BOWLS through
UVA's generosity."

Re: I gotta believe

The Peach will sell out with any of the ACC/SEC matchups. It always does. All things being equal, I would expect Miami in there since UVA was there in '98 and Miami hasn't been there since 1981, when they were hardly a powerhouse. Plus, Miami will draw a larger TV audience than UVA, which helps the Peach move towards being another BCS game.

the CHAMPS BOWL!!! that's awesome!! BTW, where is it, is it a real bowl that we can count toward our bowl streak?

Except there is a press release by the Champs Bowl Selection Committee (before the game) saying that they have "released their rights" to Clemson, GT, and UNC. Now they did this on Nov 22, for many reasons, but the bottom line is that it appears that they are not bound to select an ACC team (I'm not sure how to interpret their press release on this). They said"we didn't want to hold up those bowls with selections below the Champs Sports Bowl"

But bowl selection is a team's market now, so maybe the Champs still is in the running. With 117 Division I teams and 28 bowls and Clemson/SCarolina taking themselves out, it looks like virtually anyone with a winning record is going somewhere.

that means that another bowl was free to take

another bowl is free to take those teams. B/C UVA can't go now they can go back and take teams that are available.

This is a 5:30 pm Dec 21 bowl and aint no team left in the ACC gonna take it.

BUT b/c it is in orlando it would be great for us. when VT beat Uva that put us in this bowl. VT would have taken this bowl had they lost.

UVA turned them down b/c of exam conflicts so UVA will be going snowboarding.

Releasing the rights to our teams gives us the option to select another bowl, they aren't neccessarily saying they won't pick us. Make no bones about it, the ACC is in the driver's seat with the Champs bowl and there will be an ACC school in there. The Champs bowl cannot afford to tick off the ACC and lose the tie in with the ACC and the potential FSU or Miami games that could be played there.

The bowl can't decide not to take an ACC team, they have a tie-in. Any change has to be negotiated with the conference.

This is the same bowl slot that started our bowl streak, back when we went to the Carquest bowl and beat W. Virginia.
