No. I think this process was completely mismanaged and a farce. If Batt was going to bunt and hire Key, it should have been done a long time ago. Instead, we dragged this out and outward appearance is that we got rejected by a 60+ year old coach at Tulane and possibly outbid for our first choice by a mid major.

*Truthfully, I was excited at the prospect of someone brand new. But I can get on board with this, depending on what happens with the rest of the staff.

I’m glad it is CBK, I wonder if our beat writer, Ken, jumping the gun messed up negotiations with Fritz.

He earned it. By all accounts it sounds like he worked tirelessly to right the ship after clown car got canned.

Waiting on final contract details and staffing for me. Feels like in 2-3 years we could have a much healthier AA and a team that isn’t a total embarrassment. We will see where the new coach takes us. I know it isn’t the sexy hire, and I would have loved Deion, but Key is 100% all in on Tech. Give him a couple years to show what he can do. Maybe we can talk bigger staffs and more money once the AA shores up.

You could make a decent case to keep him or get someone else but his present track record is very compelling.also--we can afford him.

I don’t think so, if we had wanted him and he agreed it would have gone thru despite the leak. I think he got interviewed and then somebody with a bad source pushed out a fake story to try to get a scoop and Ken fell for it

Nice, smokey I know you want someone else but now we need to get behind him and the players. One thing is not a few on the staff with one more year ?

I don't think either party would let something like that get in the way of such a big decision. Much more likely that we wanted an immediate commitment and move, Fritz wouldn't give that to us, and we felt we couldn't remain without a HC for another week hoping that he would commit after the championship game.
