We have a puncher’s chance in every game

Our depleted DL showed amazing character. Storybook. The more people got injured, the stouter they got. FSU ran some, but we did not allow them to sustain their run game.

We got some coverage sacks, which is code for out defensive backs played above their pay grade.

We won't see much better of a DL this year than we did today. They were experienced, athletic, big, played together last year, and had their DL coach carry forward for the year. Yet we gave Sims clean pockets like a dry-cleaner does. We let our running backs have room to find holes, and TBH Mason was really slow hitting the holes. I credit Key for our OL success. Actually, I credit everyone... players... S&C... play-calling... the head guy... for our OL performance but I want to shout out to Brent Key.

Gailey strategy. Keep the game low scoring and close and try to win it in the 4th.

This is horrid analysis. In more ways than one.

A true freshman quarterback made a coupla mistakes, which true freshmen quarterbacks in their first game do particularly against a challenging team in their stadium, and that took 6 to 14 points off the board.

A bad special teams performance in the first game of a freak pandemic year cost us 7 points.

Put those back on the board, we score 29 to 37 points this game. That is not low scoring. If we get a snowball going, and FSU is still susceptible to getting snowballed we might have scored more and they scored less.

And you misspelled "Dodd strategy."

THIS and the performance of Sims are the big takeaways. Encouraging all around.
The WRs got open and looked talented. The RBs made great plays in space. Sims can surely huck it.
The OL looked like it can hold its own against a highly touted DL. The DBs kept up with their skilled players. Hell even David Curry looked faster and better. Developmental program achieved.
