We Have to coach better.- CPJ

That is the truth. Do we need 10 a-backs on scholarship? The defense will always suck when the offense gets first dibs. But that's where we are.
Do you not remember last season? We played multiple walkons at A-back due to lack of depth. We moved a B-back and a CB to A-back, and still did not have enough. Austin ööööing McClellan played major time against Clemson, for öööö's sake.

I think most would agree that the defense gets better talent and higher rated recruits than the offense. I'm pretty sure recruiting rankings would bear this out, but I honestly don't have time to search through them.

Also, he's said 1902090934 times (including in THIS video) that when players are not executing, it ultimately falls on the coaches.

So he's always dodging the blame is what you're saying.

What a simply unnecessary two-step we do with college coaches. We expect them to take the blame for every loss. They realize that expectation. So, they usually pay lip service to our request. But, down deep they know in most games that if execution of the game plan had been better the result would have been better. In some cases, they know they simply did not have the horses to compete.

A good friend played safety for Bear Bryant. The Bear was great at taking the full blame for every loss on his Sunday show; between munching Golden Flake chips and sipping Coca-Cola he would loudly complain about what a sorry job he had done. On Monday after a loss, the players never received apology from the coach for his poor performance on Saturday. Instead he put them through hell. They worked hard. They heard a lot of yelling and cussing from the coaches. They ran extra sprints. They hit at full speed. Even the menus at the dining table were changed after a loss. The Bear may have played along with saying to the fan base the loss was his fault; but you would have never guessed that was how he truly felt if you played for him at practice the next week.

We probably need at least 8. Do you think we have some guys that Aback that could play DL?

I'll be sure to remember this next time the board has a fire Mike Sewak thread

Mike Sewak is unfirable. Defensive coordinators, on the other hand, are like the Ottoman grand viziers. Sultans used to execute one after every bad campaign in the Danube basin.

I'll never understand why "we didn't execute" is such a terrible thing to say, especially for the offense. It's clearly sound philosophy. We've got damn near 8 straight years of very good production. The system works.

You can look at our classes on Rivals and see that our biggest name, highest rated talent has always been on Defense since Al Groh arrived in 2010.
This. Hell, we had Derrick Morgan and Morgan Burnett in 2009 and were still awful on D.
