Lets throw all the passes to Gibbs too, maybe the WR’s can form up a wall of blockers for him or somethingGet gibbs 20 touches. Don’t let sims throw a ball over 15yds. Try not to look like a high school squad on special teams

The Syracuse DL manhandled our OL. When they didn't, there was an LB or CB blitzing untouched. We definitely missed Mason's bowling ball running to break up the rush.I haven't rewatched the game, but it really looked like we gave up on the short passing game. It seemed to work so well at FSU, but not so much since then. It looked to me like our RBs were open coming out of the backfield on numerous pass plays, but we still ended up getting hit or throwing into coverage.
It's hard for me to believe our OL got manhandled when we rushed for 275 yards at 5.3 ypc. And it's not like those numbers are distorted by a 90 yard run or something - we were able to consistently run the ball all game. Sure, it would have been even better with Mason, but it's not like we couldn't get a push. In fact, I think the only reason we couldn't run it more consistently is that we kept putting ourselves way behind the chains with penalties. 2nd and 6 is a great rushing down for us. 2nd and 25? Did you not see the amount of pressure Syracuse was able to get on Sims? I think we're selling the ability of our OL short. They might not have as much experience, especially in our current offense, but I think they've definitely got potential.

I did see it, but I saw that more as missed assignments than getting manhandled. I could be wrong, but I felt like we did a pretty decent job blocking when we knew what we were doing and picked up the right blitzers. The result is the same (sacks, picks, etc.) but missed assignments are coachable, while just being physically unable to sustain your blocks is a bigger problem.Did you not see the amount of pressure Syracuse was able to get on Sims? It's why the line takes the longest to rebuild and get up to speed. One person missing a block or going the wrong way letting a defender through is all it takes to blow up a play (or cause a turnover). Doesn't have to be the same person every time either. It also makes it really hard for Sims cause he has to wonder which of the 5 OL (or RB or TE) might make a mistake this time.I agree. It's the consistency in pass blocking unit as a whole that people are meaning to describe, IMO. As a unit, we aren't able to fully protect the QB consistently so it feels like a manhandling.
The qb has a role to play in helping the OL protect him. He can't scramble so quickly and run around helter skelter like, well, a true freshman with happy feet.I agree. In the name of Dodd,On plays where we aren't making drive ending and game ending mistakes, we actually look pretty good. I think we probably just got demoralized after the fourth turnover and Syracuse dropping two bombs on us. In a game where we only have, say, two turnovers, I think we do a lot better. Statistically, we beat Syracuse by every measure but turnovers. You don't do that on accident. It's the turnovers that are the accident.
We simply can't continue to have 5 of them per game. Now is as good a time for the dice to roll straight as any. Reversion to the mean, men.
On the second ‘interception’, Sims never turns his head to the right. It was a blown assignment (or pressure from the right side). Sims had time to step up and throw the ball away. He just never saw the hit.
Was a blown assignment. RT went for the guy to his left instead of the right. It happened that way more than once, just that one caused a pick.

I don't think anyone thinks that. Just people posting fun things. Please ,do NOT get carried away with our killing Lville on a Friday nite 2 yrs ago. .It was with the T.O. and them with a dud coach .Much like some folks thought the same thing vs Syracuse. when we killed them 56-0. several yrs before..ZERO relationship.
You’re aware that nothing we get carried away about on this board will have any actual impact on the game? Please ,do NOT get carried away with our killing Lville on a Friday nite 2 yrs ago. .It was with the T.O. and them with a dud coach .Much like some folks thought the same thing vs Syracuse. when we killed them 56-0. several yrs before..ZERO relationship.
