We Win 2 or We Win 8

My main hope is really just clarity after the year. Real clarity on the state of the program. A 2-3 win season and it’s obvious what needs to be done (clean slate and start over). An 8+ win season and you have some real momentum and can hope for the future with substance behind it. I’m afraid of the 5-6 win season, backing into a low tier bowl game doesn’t show we are on the right track or that Collins can get it done, but might be just enough to not fire him for one more year. That is where I most don’t want to be.

I have us winning 3 games... I wished I had the confidence to say we win more. However; saying 2 wins, isn't out of the scope of reality. 8 wins??? No way, no how... I would take 6 wins, at this point; and one of those toilet bowl games.

Pitt lost a lot of their proven weapons. They need some players to step up

If Collins can't even win 3 games, he deserves to be fired mid-season. Starting 0-4 with a loss to WCU is a fire-able offense.

But it's not like we play in the NFC or something, 8 wins is attainable if we can get our öööö together at QB and get points on the board reliably on O. The OL sounds like it's still likely going to be a pain, but atleast a pain with more depth than we've had the past 3 seasons. Hopefully we can stay healthy this year.

Ranking our schedule in terms of difficulty, from least likely to win to most likely, assuming our O is functioning at all:
Unwinnable games
1) ugag - Unless half their team comes down with violent diarrhea or pink eye or something the morning of the game, this one aint winnable.

Winnable, but unlikely
2) Clemson - They lost a lot of pieces this offseason, we get them early but they're still stacked in terms of talent
3) Miami - I think they finally start turning the corner this year. If we played them earlier in the year I would like our chances better.
4) Pitt - They've basically become the BYU of the ACC. Their lines are going to wear down our lines.

Toss ups
5) Miss - It's Lane Kiffin, but it sounds like they're going to struggle this year. Not sure what to make of them yet, but SEC teams almost always show up to play in OOC games.

Likely wins with good O numbers
6) UCF - They've had some good teams recently,
7) UNC - Is Mack still recruiting well? If we could beat them last year, they're just as prone to playing down on any given weekend as we are.
8) FSU - No idea here really, other than they are naturally talented. Are they expected to bounce back after going 5-7 last year?

Should be wins
9~10) VT - Brand new coach, big question mark on whether he can turn around a plummeting program.
9~10) UVA - Similar to VT, brand new coach, who is a big question mark. A lot of buzz about Elliott coming to GT when we hired Collins, he'll be 1 to watch.

Must wins
11) Duke - We've still got talent issues, but we're not Duke
12) WCU - Collins should be fired before the end of September if he can't win this game, there's no excuses 4 years in to lose these types of games

So if you're going to grab 8 wins, you must beat WCU, Duke, UVA and VT. Then I think we can pull 2/3 from UCF, UNC, and FSU. To get to 8 we'd have to catch Miss on a bad year or bad week, then steal 1 from either Pitt, Miami, or Clemson. Possible, although unlikely given recent history.

I'd move UCF to the toss up, I think they're on par with Ole Miss.

SEC teams definitely play up for OOC games in recent years, is that the conference pride thing at work? The same reason fans will chant "S-E-C"? You don't see ACC fans doing that.

If we lose to the Catamounts, Collins should be fired before he reaches the tunnel. Better yet, seppuku.

Were you at the two Clem Nattys against Bama?

BASED ON WHAT???

BASED ON WHAT???
3 wins last year, least returning production in P5 (or is it FBS), new offensive scheme is TE reliant and we don't have any good TEs, DC back from last year, new OL lacks experience and relies on transfers who didn't see the field at their previous school, HC still running the program in "innovative" new ways that no other HC is doing (hint: maybe they're right and he's wrong).

Offense is TE reliant? Where you get that from?

Last year results are not indicative of future results. If so, NIU shouldn’t have won 9 games and UNC should’ve won the coastal

DC back in title only.

What innovations? I thought GT fans all want us to do things that other schools are doing?

Chip Long offenses are successful with good TEs. The stats back that up. He's pretty open about using the position group to shift looks and take advantage of the personnel grouping the defense gets stuck in. He failed at Tulane because he didn't have the players at that position that were versatile enough to take advantage of those mismatches.

Last year's results aren't indicative, but the statistics bear out that there is a strong correlation between returning productivity and improving record.

Ok, still back.

You don't think it's a bad sign that we were the outliers on when we held spring practice and spring game? Tons of interviews and comments about how strange it was. No interviews about going to a more normal practice schedule.

Not convinced, why don't you try convincing me why year 4 will actually be different?

You might have something here. If they do get pink eye, they are so dumb they might drink the eye drops, then diarrhea....
