Week 1 Thread??

Welcome back!

That was a great game. Did not expect such a great finish. That last pick by Sims is unexplainable. It is honestly shocking that he hasn't gotten better at making decisions. You just can't make those throws and stay a 1st string QB. Thank God he won't do it again in a Tech jersey.

Nice win for the Gophers. I don’t like Ruhle and like Fleck, so that is to my liking. I don’t wish Sims any bad luck. But, bless his heart, he is not a good QB at this level. He is frustrating, because he is athletic, runs well and can make nice throws. I don’t know if his problem is vision, confidence, decision making, courage, attitude or something else, but he is just not a winner as your QB.

He is not and never HAS been consistently accurate. I tried telling folks this three years ago. All of his other problems flow from that. You can't be confident when you have no ööööing idea where the ball will wind up when you throw it. Lack of confidence, fear of failure, etc., etc.

He’s got 3 wins in him, right? That would be LaTech, North Illinois (don’t laugh) and then there’s his annual “WTF he looked great” game.

He’s no QB and that’s why clown was able to “steal” him away. Damn, clown really could pick ‘em!

Mike Norvell apparently knew what he was doing.....

Florida Gators - 1st non conference road game outside the state of Florida since 1991. I was 10 years old!

How do they get away with that??

Ima guess blind . . . was that against Syracuse?

Anyway, after tonight's result, it'll probably be another 32 years before they try it again.

But check out Utah. City school. Hell, almost a commuter school. Second most popular school in their own state by a good margin. Hell, their own coach played ball at their big in-state rival. They play in a medium-size 50000 +/- seat stadium. A state with a farly small popluation and therefore a small football talent pool.

And all they do is win. Back to back conference champions over "glamour" programs like USC, Oregon, and to a lesser extent UCLA. They sell out every ööööing game and that crowd is wild and enthusiastic. And a fair number of their games - like tonight - are national telecasts, not on some old UHF station in the noosebleed section of the channel listing. That has got to help 'crooting.

It **can** be done. Tech just needs to start doing it.

That was a winnable game. I wanted to see #7 do well, honestly. Apparently Nebraska doesn’t have great receivers. You could clearly see he wasn’t going through his progressions, keying on one receiver allowing that DB to pick him off… twice. He was predictable. He can run but like here he won’t last the whole season. He hasn’t made it through a complete season in his college career.

He should be an A-Back

Unlike Collins, I think Ruhle is a quality coach. I can’t understand how he could take a program like Nebraska with all their money and support and choose Simms as the quarterback to lead his program. Simms must be great in practice and doesn’t show the short comings that always appear during the game.

This did not go well. Utah did not get the memo about the SEC.
