Western Carolina is Appalachain States Rival. They play for the Old Mountain Jug. App is 56-18-1 against them. They have only lost to them 6 times in the last 25 years. They are a school of about 10,000 students in the middle of no where (Cullowhee NC).

The difference is that Furman was a SoCon power then, Western is in the SoCon cellar now.

I think he feels that he is helping them out enough by having Tech pay them to come play, the only points shaving I could see is him taking a knee as the time runs out on the 5 yardline rather than punching it through.

I went to the SoCon basketball tourney in Chattanooga last year. Western had quite the eating team that also danced at halftime of their basketball games.
