What did we have in 2014

That we don't have now? Luck? PJ has his best quarterback. Our receivers can catch. Our running backs are pretty good. I really suck at evaluating the OL. All I know is we got trounced by UNC, and that is embarrassing

We had an incredibly opportunistic defense and a future all-pro on the OL to run behind when things got tough.

We were near the top of the nation in turnover margin.

A defense that caused TOs and scored off TOs. We were top 10 in TOs created. We had 29 TOs in 2014. 18 Ints, 11 recovered fumbles off of 20 forced fumbles. We have 9 TOs this year, total. We have 4 INTs this year. We've forced 6 fumbles, and recovered 5. Not to mention we scored TDs on 5 those INTs.

We cannot get a sack. If you don't understand the relationship between sacks and defensive performance, might I suggest you do a little reading.

Roof blitzed early and often, just like I predicted in the game thread. And we maybe put a helmet on the QB twice all day. Forced a few incomplete passes, but couldn't get it done.

In 2014, we had guys that could get to the QB, that generates poor decisions by the QB, and INTs, which we had plenty of. We are probably at the bottom of CFB in turnover margin these past 2 years. Different than 2014 by far.

Two-deep seniors at B-back, BOTH A-backs (i.e. four senior A-backs) and 2 WR's. The two WR's and the center were all drafted.

And Shaq Mason. Sweet, lovely Shaq Mason who would drive 2-3 guys back and never let us down.

I guess that's the main difference for offense. But to be 10+ point underdogs to unc and not even cover the spread is just flat out terrible.

It appears PJ has lost his mojo and just does not have the answers anymore.

We had over 500 yards. Gotta make FGs, not hold on the goal line, and stop fumbling. I know you guys don't like it when CPJ says it so I will say it. The players gotta play better.

Much better WRs, opportunistic defense, better OL, better aback blocking, more experienced bbacks, and some lucky breaks that went our way. Besides that, not much

We also had a much easier schedule that year, although most don't want to hear that.

We had luck like the OP said. The GSU win was luck. Watson getting hurt in the first quarter of the Clemson game was luck (he was marching their offense down the field like a knife through butter before we got the gift of Cole Stoudt). The Pitt game where they turned the ball over 30 times in the first quarter, enough said. The VT and Ugay games could have gone either way, though we did get hosed on that gift touchdown the refs gave those maggots on the "fumble" and subsequent return.

We dominated Virginia, NC State, the cupcakes, and Mississippi State. The rest of that season was fluke city.

Really, maggots is censored? Didn't realize this place had turned into a safe space.

Don't forget the QB from NCSU also got injured.
