What do we know about Kevin Sherrer?

Well Idk if he's the one showing them what position to be in or if that's thacker's responsibility?
He's the one who should've been translating Thacker's scheme into their every waking thought so that their instinctive response to what they're seeing is to be in the right position using the right technique without having to think about it.

Candidly, with 3 position coaches on defense we were already short staffed and you combine that with 2/3 position coaches not being on last year's staff and 0/3 having worked with Thacker at previous stops... well, we weren't exactly setting ourselves up for familiarity.

When you put it like that we should have seen this coming.

Why are we short staffed? I realize we are limited financially due to several incompetent presidents and AD's. However, the coaching staff is not the place to cut corners.

Why don;t we have coaching positions funded by donors the way they do with professors?

Because we don’t have a rabid fanbase that donates more money than they should to support their favorite sports team.

Because normally the DC coaches a position group and often times the ST coordinator also has a position group as well. 10 assistants total, 5 position groups on offense and 4/5 on defense depending on ST coordinator taking a position group would be the expected breakdown. So, with having Thacker be DC with no position group responsibility, we were effectively short staffed. With Sherrer keeping LBs we will be more normal.

Thacker's suddenly going to be able to coach tackling or does that responsibility still belong to one of the other 95 staff members we now have?

If he gets lucky and we win like half the remaining games, and has a decent first half against UGA, people will think he's awesome and should get the job permanently.

Hired in January 2023, Coach Sherrer official title was Co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach.

So while Andrew Thacker was demoted, not sure Kevin has been a good fit thus far. LB play is Crap thus far and Thacker looks like he has been coaching with Clown. Last year Kevin wasn't on staff and the defense player better.

That being said Coach Key deserves our support with this move, but this move does nothing to encourage fans to show up at Bobby Dodd. This season is a wash. Need to win 6 and get to a bowl game for fans to consider 2024 season.

Have you written a blog post with this hot take yet?

I think he ran a 3-4 while at UT when Pruitt was HC. But Pruitt was a defense guy so that may have been why. Don't know much about him other than the LB play has been suspect this year, I think in large part because of the personnel. We'll just have to wait and see.
