What is Flunkgate?

He wasn't the best, but he was very special. His instant burst of speed was incredible. The best, is reserved for ELI, of course.
Castleberry. Ya he played both ways but lit the world on fire toting the rock.

Bigger question is why wasn’t that D tremendously better in the bowl game without him?
Answer...CPJ, Thomas, and Shaq. The Miss State coaches on tv were shown looking at each other with: Hell if I know what to do, looks!

When the 11 players were declared ineligible, people were saying we might win 2 games that year because all of them were either starters or major contributors.
During the controversy, much blame and vitriol was directed at Gailey. A group of players went to Gailey and said “coach, we got your back.” And we ended up with 7 wins. I always thought Gailey did a great job that year.

Wasn't Frank Roper, our once revered Registrar Emeritus, greatly responsible for Flunkgate, due to not keeping current with evolving/changing NCAA progress requirements?

Perhaps marginally.... Frank retired in 2000 from GIT & moved over to GTAA helping S-As complete their degrees post eligibility.

That said, C***** M**** was more culpable for intentional acts.

Yes he was part of it as well. I think he was involved in the quarter to semester problems
