Where are all the skeptics that said the triple option will never work ? and Johnson never passes ?? Go run and hide in your little holes, nay sayers !!!

GT Football is BACK !!!! :laugher:

Little early for that man. We'll get there. Relax for a bit, I hope as much as anyone, and more than most other sane people that we find ourselves in Miami on Jan 1 but hold down "told you sos" until we all can join you.

Yeah, I'm excited, but Navy crushed the Jax St.'s of the world, too.

Can't wait for next week.

Even GSU crushed Jax St when they played... they had 500 yards of rushing against them in 2002. Last year we hung 69 points and 500 yards of TO on Samford.

I am not saying this offense isn't going to be successful this season, but let's keep things in perspective.

BC's defense will really show us how well our offense will do this season.

I will say that this Jax State team was much better than that Samford team. These guys actually have some talent.

I am cautiously optimistic after last night. However, our kicking and ball control problems scare the hell out of me; we have got to get these problems under control if we want to be competitive with teams like UGAy, VPI, Clemson, et al.

Agreed. Don't think this means too much. However, I did like that our first string didn't look sloppy...the pitches were all pretty good and there were only a couple cases of miscommunication. Very encouraging...I can't wait until the real season begins next weekend.

For a first game with a NEW offense, we looked very good. That said, CPJ knows there's plenty of work to do before we're at the top of the league.

Also, this is not the JSU of 2002. This team is projected to win the OVC (is that the conf?). They also have an all-world QB and a stellar RB. That said, they're not a D-1 level team.

It was a very good opening night performance. Offense was very productive productive and focused out of the gate - 4 TD's in a half is good against anyone. Playing a lot of people and realizing #2 QB is effective was great. Kicking game must improve and we need to fumble less, but some fumbles are to be expected in an offense where ball handling is more difficult.

Bottom line - congratulations to coaches and players for an "A" on opening night.

.

Speaking of Miami, does anyone still see a W after the UM game last night. They looked fast against a raunchy opp., but I wasn't expecting that.

We just won a glorified preseason game against an overmatched opponent. The nay sayers are primed and waiting

Navy routinely had a hard time with D1AA/FCS teams. The only one they beat bad was VMI, who is probably much worse than this Jax St team.

Paul Johnson said we played ugly last night. He didn't seem altogether thrilled with what he saw. He's a hell of a lot smarter then me. I hope the practice time this week gets us in shape for BC. I'm not a nay sayer, I know that Johnson will get this working. I'm not trying to be a downer, congrats to the boys, but this was a 1-AA team.

I thought most engineers were smart !!! I'm not talking about one short sighted victory. I'm talking about the direction and leadership of our new program.

We now have the right man at the helm !!! We may be 2 years from competing for the ACC title but we are heading in the right direction.

The nay sayers boxed Coach Johnson as a single dimension coach. What we saw last night is multi-dimension coaching with thinking outside the box !!

GT Football is indeed back !!
