Where Are They Now: Reggie Ball

Just a sidebar on second sentence or paragraph,he had number 21` to throw do and thats a pretty good gift. No,his attitude and behavior is what ticked me off,his its just a game dog remarks are hard to forgive. But in the end if anybody deserves the praise and the hits its Chan,he is the Coach who is responsible.I hope RB does well at whatever he does but I always felt like he was not qb caliber for us but we seemed to do little to replace him.

i MAY HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER FOR CJ ,SORRY,OLD MAN LAPSE.

He's also the guy who, as a freshman and after getting a pretty bad concussion, was chewing out some uga defensive lineman. Not smart, but you could tell he hated uga.

Was it a stupid comment? Yeah. But he was a kid who just made a boneheaded play to lose us a game. Of course he is going to try to sweep it under the rug to make himself feel better. I don't think he had the maturity to say "my bad" and move on.

I'm by no means the Ball supporter, but it was pretty apparent to me during the start of his Sophomore year that he hit his ceiling quickly. I'll never know the answer to this, but why Gailey didn't go out and get a Nesbitt/Threet type Ball's freshman year is beyond me. What if Ball didn't work out at all? I didn't see much effort to get a competent, solid replacement, particular for a pro style offense that featured the best WR in college football.

Well for one, CPJ is kind of fantastic and especially when you compare him to Gailey.

I'm very happy with CPJ, don't get me wrong - his first two years are the most fun I've had as a Tech fan since Joe Hamilton was on the Flats.

But last year was the most miserable season I can recall since 1994. It just wasn't fun. At all. It's been a long time since I was sick of football and just ready for the season to be over - I never felt like that during Gailey's tenure. (Maybe I felt it a little in 2001, when we played @F$U after the U[sic]GA game.)

Whatever other faults Gailey and his teams had, despite some really lousy circumstances, they always won more games than they lost, and occasionally won a bowl game, neither of which CPJ can say, 3 years in. Do I want Gailey back instead of CPJ? Hell no. (But if we go 6-7 in another miserable season again next year, that might change to "well, maybe...")

well, bravo for you for being the optimist. somehow i don't find ****ting all over chan's time here and the man to be much more noble than dissing CPJ

I didn't crap all over Gailey. I merely said that CPJ is better. Paul is 10 times the coach Gailey was. Gailey's pro style coaching did nothing for Tech. Yes, I know last season was horrible. But tell me that Paul didn't do the best with what happened (i.e. his starting quarterback break his arm, which if had not happened I bet we would've won a few of those games we lost including the UGAy game). Gailey was mediocre and the best thing I feel he did while he was here was recruit arguably the best WR Tech has ever had and one of the bests to play the game. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have years of winning ACC championships with a few crappy, rebuilding years in between than the same average win/loss ratio every year.

Paul gets us championships AND wins over UGAy.
Gailey didn't.

Okay see some of your points but lets go back a spell.Ga was kickign our ass period and if he hated them so much what is it with this "its just a game dog bull.Second he was a junior and had started about everygame at tech when the ball went flying into the stands at Stanford.Third the next year with tech on the goalline he hit the GA player right in the numbers for a game ending interception.

Most of us I think knew RB was a good LITTLE athlete but no big time qb but he was a good competitor so maybe thats why Chan stuck with him so long.It is hard for me to figure out Bilbo not getting a shot at qb since he was big ,strong and fast and could at least get the ball to CJ.No as I get older I wish RB well but its hard to make amends with some of his attitude or some of his remarks vs Ga.Too old to get it out of my system I guess.Of course he may have been a great runner with his speed or a safety etc but Chan had no idea it seemed to do anythingwith him.He almost ruined JN and did Rb no favors. Thanks for the info.

I dont think we have a pig in a poke yet with PJ,I think if he gets the right players for his system he will be a fine coach .I,like you,was expecting a big year this year and after watching us live I agreed with Ole Foggy that we couldnt play any defense nor did we look like we wanted to play any defense.Six and seven with a bunch of returning players didnt go well with us old farts neither did the ugly ass unis they wore but thats another blog.

I do think the option will take special folks and if we get them we do well and if not........we lose.Bottom line is folks in ACC are seeing it every year and its not as fresh as it was three years ago.It is still a very potent formation and we still will do well with it but its clear we need a thrower and somebody who can tackle. If we dont get this and have a mediocre season then the wolfs will howl.I dont see that happening since we have a good schedule this year but who knows.I give him a couple of more years before I throw out the kool aid.
