Which UGA victory was the sweetest: 98, 99, or 2008?

I liked 2008. This is because at half-time I got around 20 text from different UGA friends condoling me about having a coach with a high school offense, and 7 more years of chan, etc. Then the third quarter happened.

At the end of the game, I was like, I am going to be the bigger man and not text each of these people back rubbing it in their face like that have so many times with me. Then I looked down at my hands and they were already making fun of bulldog nation out of pure instinct. It was a beautiful thing!

You're an ignorant, inexperienced dick and that's the reason NO ONE likes you.

I'd have to say, based on personal experience, and not dick grabbin like a man like you, the game we won over in Athens '70 I think it was. I was there, 13 y/o or so, and we smacked their ass. 17 -7 or something. Went to the Sun Bowl and won. I know you old timers recall. Bud Carson I think and dang if we didn't have a fine team.

I nominate this for post of the week.

Senility in web form.

Like I keep telling you guys, it ain't an official drought until it is at least 8 years.

I like this. UGA has come close on a couple of occasions, but eight-in-a-row still stands. UGA won't get close to that for a long while --if ever again.

I've suffered through the seven-years, six-year dry spells and although it's not part of GTK's question, I still like 1984 as my favorite victory over UGA.

Regarding '98, '99 & '08, I'd have to choose '08. Like 'The Jacket' said, UGA was pre-season #1, it was Munson day, and mainly for me --not since the first-half of the game in 1984 (or into the third quarter, as GT was up 35-6 at some point) had a Tech team so dominated UGA for a half. The 26-0 third quarter are 15 minutes of action I will never forget.

I liked 2008 because they had us down and the team responded by punching them in the mouth. Our guys could have easily given up, but didn't. That made the game special.

Besides, I had a UGA grad call me at halftime rubbing in the 16 pt lead. All I said was, "It's only halftime. I'll call you back after we win."

After Georgie's first drive, granted they just tore down the field with runs and passes and scored easily, a Georgie fan friend of mine sent me a text. It said: "LOL!!!"

after the game, i was of course overjoyed at our success but i held back. i gave him that night off. the next morning i sent him a text. It read: "In this modern world, he who LOLs last LOLs best!!"

all he could do was agree

I was fortunate enough to be at all three games. In my mind, the clear answer is 1999. We blew two 17 point leads and were one yard away from losing. Then the fumble. I remember all the Tech players pointing that we had the ball. My Dad didn't see this and was wondering why there was this kind of murmur going on throughout the stands. It seemed like it took the refs ten minutes to finally make the call. Then, we go to OT. Interception, FG blocked, and then finally, we win. The most exciting game in the series history.

I don't seem to recall any UGA victories in 98,99 or 2008, but I will digress. I will say my favorite victory OVER UGA is now a tie between 99 and 2008. It was 99 just because that was a great year in general and ended up being a dramatic win. However, I love the new offense and every game is exciting. Even when we are blasting someone it's exciting. In the past with the pro offense, if we blasted someone it didn't excite me the way it does now.

Obviously there are a lot of great UGA victories, but of those three, which do you think was the best?
1984 (or was it 1985, damn senility in web form sucks.) I was still a student at Tech. It was my first date with a beeee-yootiful girl who will remain nameless. We went to Dogpatch and watched GT thump UGA twixt the hedges 35-18, and it wasn't even that close. Back to Atlanta for a night of celebratory debauchery. All-in-all a good day to be GTRules.

1984. 1985 was Gary Lee's KO return in the fog as well as Tech's 'baker's dozen' goal line stand prior to the half.

I'd vote for 2008. The way the CPJ and the rest of the team willed their way to victory with that epic 3rd quarter come back signified a substantial shift in the balance of power back towards the side of the good guys.

I would say 2008, because that one I saw. I started school the same time as Gailey, and I lived through that era. I am not ashamed to admit that I teared up a little bit when I realized that we could run out the clock against UGA and it was over.
