who do ya like in sec??

My family are all Auburn grads and fans, so I end up rooting for them several times per year when I'm with relatives.

I will root for any Southern team (except one) against teams from the rest of the country, especially Big Ten or PAC-10.

Florida

1 they beat the **** out of UGA a lot.
2 Meyer has good things to say about PJ and GT
3 have you seen his daughter that is coming to play volleyball here at GT!

we are all Tech fans but is there an sec school that you guys root for, and I know anyone playing Georgia, but is there one that you root for on a week basis?? who and why??

SEC order of operations:
Root against UGA.
Root against the Axis of Evil (UGA, Bama, Tennessee)
Root for Vandy.
Root for Florida. (only because they give UGA so much heartburn)
Root for the underdog.

I don't actively pull for these teams, but if I see college gameday wrapup at 2am, I smile if these teams won....

Vandy
Last I heard, their program still doesn't have an AA. They basically run it like we run intramurals - nearly no budget, just because they love to play ball. Tough academics = student athlete, not the other way around. Small school = small fan base, but those fans they do have are die hard. Sound familiar? There are some nice young hotties in Nashvegas too btw.

I also nearly went to UF, and when I took a campus tour, there were women roller blading around campus in bikinis. Still not sure how I didn't wind up there.

Shouldn't end your question with an exclamation point, try a question mark.

Sorry, could not resist, that is the ST Smartassness rubbing off on me...

+1. Florida all the way for me (unless they play GT).

Auburn.

1. Family ties.
2. When we won down there a few years ago, I thought their fans were as cordial as anyone we have ever played.
3. For years (maybe still) the powers that be in alabama and the media there have tried to make Auburn suck hind tit. Not unlike some media here in ga wants us to do with ugag.

Here's my SEC top to bottom:

1. UT - We'll have to see if this holds with Kiffin in
charge. Not looking good so far.
2. Auburn - Nice Fans (sad that their program
imploded this year as the crapped on Tubberville)
3. Vanderbilt - Major Underdog points
4. Kentucky - A few underdog points, plus I was a Lorenzen fan.
5. Ole Miss - Usually Non-offensive underdogs
6. Mississippi St. - No opinion about them, had to
go somewhere
7. Florida - They beat up on Georgie

(Cue the hate):
8. South Carolina - Their recruiting is annoying
9. Alabama - Think they're God's gift to football
10. Arkansas - Petrino is an ass
11. LSU - If I ever have a kid like Les Miles, I'm
going to beat him twice a day.
12. UGAg - The Great Satan

#1 - UT. My sister went undergrad at UGA and grad at UT. Thankfully she likes UT not UGA.
#2 - UF. Buddy went there and if you think doggies are obnoxious now imagine if UF wasn't humbling them every year.
#3 - Ole Miss. Underdog, had a really fun night there once.

I have two cousins and a sister in law from AU but I cannot pull for them. I dated a girl from Miss State seriously and have a cousin who went there but no can do. I have great friends who went to LSU but once again no-can-do. USCe as the poster said needs to STFU about the SEC. I would call the others non-factors except I cheer against Alabama. Dodd would require it.

Growing up I was an Alabama fan (mid-late 70's)
I despised Auburn and of course UGA.

The tide turned, so to speak, regarding Bama/AU in '89 after a Bama fan threw a brick @ Bill Curry's office window --I've pulled for AU in that series ever since. By the mid-80's I had become an LSU fan, and they had some very good teams during this period. I despised UGA through this entire period.

I've never been an outright 'fan' of Florida, but of course I have thoroughly enjoyed what they've been doing to UGA since 1990 --because I just really despise UGA.

I like South Carolina because I like Spurrier. He seems to despise UGA, which is certainly a good thing in my book.

These days I tend to pull for Vanderbilt in the East, and Ole Miss in the West. I despise... well, I think I've made that point quite clear.

Florida. There's a Gator statue on my front porch I see every day going to get the mail.

I don't like anybody in the SEC. I just happen to dislike 11 of those schools far less then I hate that ****hole to the north.

(1) Ole Miss--underdog; sister went there
(2) Vandy--underdog, smaller school, strong academics
(3,tie) Auburn--bunch of friends went there; nice fans
(3, tie) UF--they kick UGA's @$$ consistently

Living in NW Georgia, I pretty much echo Beej67's comments about the "axis of evil" being UGA, UT, and Bama. (Of course, I'll always cheer for the former two against the Cesspool). Tech merchandise up here runs a distant third behind those three redneck schools.

Don't care much for LSU because they've embarrassed us the past couple of times they've played us (and their fans smell like corndogs)

USCe--obnoxious fans for such a mediocre program, but I still like Spurrier.

No particular thoughts about UK, Miss State, or Arkansas (other than agreeing that Bobby Petrino is a tool).

Of course, I'll generally root for any ACC school over any SEC school (but I did cheer for UF over F$U in the title game back when Weurfel (sp?) was with the Gators)

Ole Miss - best man in wedding went there, visited there a lot, love the place.

and

Auburn - for some reason, I've always gotten along well with their fans. I only know a few who actually went there; I've found even their sidewalk fans to be good people.

Bama. Roll Tide.
- If you need a reason, I respect tradition and in my opinion they're the only team in the sec with one worth mentioning.

The thing I hate about the SEC is the overwhelming amount of cesspool *** clowns. Whether it's the racist Bama fan or the South Carolina fan chanting SEC dominance - it bothers me. They are a conference that plays competitive football - nothing more and nothing special. Respect your own tradition, hate your rival, but good god...don't make an *** of yourself.

I will usually pull for UT. My mom's side of the family are all big Vol fans. However, Kiffin may change all that. I wouldn't mind seeing him fall flat on his face.
