Same guy said Chadwell and Key were top 2 candidates yesterday and that there was no indication that it’s gonna be BOB. Now he’s saying BOB and Fritz are top 2 candidates and Key is third. It’s all bull ööööing öööö. We don’t know öööö, he doesn’t know öööö, ”insiders” don’t know öööö. Everyone is just throwing names and hoping it’s the guy they want.

Don’t think we are talking about same guy, but ok. I’m not paying for anything.

I signed up this year. I'm not sure I'm going to renew. Turns out that site, and this site for that matter is for poor people. You either are employed high up in the GTAA or are a multi million dollar donor to be privy to the information we are looking for. $9.95 ain't giving you access.
I went to cancel and I don’t even know how to cancel. They hid that öööö.

Why Deion lol? Everyone was so high on him. What changed?
Same thing that always happens to highs.
I never was and I thought at first it was some kind of meme on here.
I'm still not sure. I think a lot of people will be saying soon that they did it for giggles, and it'll be easy to believe since it is, in my view, an absolutely terrible idea. He's the only candidate I've seen mentioned who I fear would somehow actually compound the problems we created by hiring Gofef. But I don't know, maybe they all know something I don't. Or maybe they just want one last hypegasm before they quit watching or caring. Or öööö, what if I'm a subconscious racist or something?

öööö man

Want or will probably end up with? I like the upside of Chadwell. I like the instant jolt, that Sanders would bring. We may end up with Obrien. I fear we will choose Key. Key, to me, is a cheap choice. A choice that may turn us into a 6 win program, over the next 3 years. If that's what the fan base wants, that's what they will get.

I think my main pics are going elsewhere.
Now I think the following:
Garret Riley
Kendal Briles
Willie Fritz

Our AD dicked around and should have gotten Deon. I am guessing we end up with that Turd BoB

Also - the longer this drags out the more it makes me wonder if we are waiting on someone to get past conference championship games before hiring. That could mean Todd Monken, BOB among others in play.

We just had ATL, #404, the culture, effort based, weight lifting on sideline, Coach doing push-ups on sideline, juice crew, high level, elite, Waffle House level razzle dazzle and it was the worst. It was like if CrossFit was a football team. A lot of hype and movement and very little substance. So no, I don’t want razzle dazzle. I want a football coach

And lest we forget . . .Money Down!

If our final three are Key, Chadwell, and BOB then I am satisfied with that.

The doom and gloom about BOB is dumb — Bama’s offense has been very good this year, despite losing a number of players on that side of the ball. Their issue the last couple years has been on defense. Enough with people pointing at Bama fans not liking him — we are looking for a HC, not an OC, and they’re just as irrational and stupid as our fans and every other school’s fans. BOB would bring a lot of experience to Tech at a time where that is needed - PSU HC after its worst period ever (sound familiar?), NFL HC, even NFL GM (yeah, objectively awful at it — but I’m positive he learned a lot). I’m sure 99% of reasonable people would agree on one thing at least — his coaching network is the deepest among these three and is most likely to give us the most experienced and capable overall staff. Yes, this would be the most Gailey hire, but I’m not sure that’s a bad thing considering where we are today. Gailey took several years to understand recruiting since he came from the NFL but he really started getting it at the end — BOB would require no such grace period.

Chadwell is a system coach, and we have a school that has proven that system coaches can do well here by mitigating our recruiting disadvantages. His system is far more attractive to kids with NFL aspirations, which plugs that huge hole CPJ had. He has HC experience which I think is huge, even at a smaller program. He’s a little younger, more up and coming — very similar to what you see around the country with programs who turn it around and become contenders. Option fans are happy, non-option fans are happy because he slings it, anti-BOB fans are happy… it’s the most unifying option, and my preference.

Key has just 8 games of HC experience, and it would be too large a risk at this point of his career for us to hand the keys to him, especially considering the precarious position our program and financials are in. He was a big part of clown’s staff, the darkest period in Tech history. His position coaching group was the worst or second-worst on the field all 4 years. All of that is easy to forget given he got our kids to put effort into their play — but it was just 2 months ago. I think Brent Key is a good man and he loves Georgia Tech, but I hope we have learned that is not a job qualification by now. His interim job should land him a G5 head coaching position but if it doesn’t, his career was helped tremendously by it - and I would love to see him back at Tech one day, but not right now. That sucks to say, and I don’t envy Batt to have to say it, given the job he did and that he’s an alum - and great player here. If I’m wrong and Key somehow gets the job, I’ll support him. But he will have the shortest leash with our own fans, and he should - he wouldn’t be considered for any other P5 job right now because he’s just not quite ready (though i believe he will be with more experience, one day).

Good summary, and I agree with most of what you've said except that I think you sell Key's experience short. He's been around, and coached under Saban. And as has been covered quite a bit here in other threads, it is quite clear that Clown Gef was calling the shots a bit too much in his role as head coach. That was immediately evident in the performance of our Defense after he was gone, and I'm sure the same holds true for how the offense was being run. The OL performed quite well in the last few games, considering the age and number of injuries. I think half of our OL core was playing injured yesterday.

A lot of posters say Key is the "low risk hire" for Batt. I say it's just the opposite
Batt's career trajectory rests on this hire. I'm not envious

This is one of the better summaries on here. I give a slight preference to BOB over Chadwell and Chadwell over Key, but none of them would be the end of the world. I do like Batt and will trust his process and decision since we have just a sliver of the information he's using.

I’d agree with you if he was one of Saban’s coordinators like Kiffin, Sark, Smart or (gasp) O’Brien. But he wasn’t. He was an OL coach there and an OL coach here.

This poll only proves one thing to me: we really do have the saddest fan base in P5.

Again, for the Final Edition . . .

Georgia Tech football is a seller in a buyer's market. We would need to sell - hard - anyone that we should really want. Not the other way around. Close to the old joke that I wouldn't join any club that would have me as a member.

No retreads like Mullen, Muschamp, Mendenhall, Frost, Chryst, etc. (even if any of these guys wanted to come here anyway which I doubt) . . . or Key. Everyone has already seen what they can do . . . are folks beating down their doors?

If we don't hire Key, do you think anyone else will? Hmmmm - what does that tell you?!?

We need to hit lightning in a bottle with an up-and-comer assistant who has never had a Power 5 head coaching position
. Preferably not a G5 HC position, either. All those guys either flamed out elsewhere, or if successful they're already going to be looking for something better than GT.

Garrett Riley would be a steal. If we could snag him we would be damn lucky. He is going to win a lot of games somewhere. He is my first choice by far.

I've listed my other favorites before, and I'll do it again. I have limited my list to RealVille - guys we at least have a chance to hire.

Next up would be Corey Dennis. Again . . . looking for lightning in a bottle.

Other guys I would try to hire include Morgan Scalley, Kenny Dillingham, Kendal Briles. Maybe Liam Cohen.

Or we could go for another retread. And then we can have this same discussion again in four years. Except most of the up-and-comers I've named will already be head coaches somewhere else
