I really think Anthony Allen is going to start. It would appear that he is going to take Lucas cox starting position.

I could see Roddy Jones getting less snaps next year. We have Embry Peeples and Marcus Wright who are both going to be fighting to see the field. Then we will have Dwyer taking some snaps at A back.

seems like Uzzi can beat out one of the returning OL.

Steven Sylvester is my pick to start with Brad Jefferson and Sedric Griffin. That would mean Jackson is losing his spot.

Jerrad Tarrant is going to take someones spot at DB. I would think Mario Butler.

Let's hear what you think.

Your picks sound about right to me. I do think AA might start, but I wouldn't be shocked to see JD end up spending more time at Aback. JD runs outside so well anyway, and AA's size is almost identical to JD. What if AA ends up being a bigger straight up the gut TD threat than JD? Then maybe we see JD moving to Aback most of the time. Especially if Watson ends up being able to play enough snaps to give AA all the rest he needs. I love the depth the staff is developing. We haven't had the kind of QUALITY depth that we have now in a long time. And it appears it's going to get even better!

Agree, except I think Butler starts somewhere, even if we have to shift to a nickel as our base package.

Yea. I could see him being a hybrid player. Reid impressed me for a true FR last year.

Reid also got burned quite a bit vs UGA, FSU, etc. And our LBs didn't play great either.

Well Anthony Allen is obvious, but to think Roddy Jones is losing his starting spot is stupid. Roddy was head and shoulders above Embry and Marcus Wright last year. It wasn't even close.

I think Butler will definitely lose his starting spot at CB but to who. I probably would agree with you that Tarrant will start in his place.

I like Reese at Safety but Cooper could take his spot if he doesn't move to LB.

As for the Linebackers, no one but Griffin is safe to start.

Very valid point. I thought he was a for sure RS though. Was a 2 star coming in and then all of a sudden he's a starter. He does have a lot to work on though. We have talent at the LB position but just under perform IMO. Sed played well last year. Jefferson was hurt for awhile and I was a little disappointed in his performance. Sylvester played good at times.

Yeah I'd say with the backfield, it isn't as important who the starter is cause we have so many people to play at those positions. So much can change during game time that some of the first people on the field might have replacements who get more time there.

I think JD will get less snaps too, but that's a good thing. He got way too many last year according to PJ. However, I find it difficult to believe he won't be the Bback. He is fantastic at reading the defense and knowing where and when to make his cuts. I just cannot believe the offense will not revolve primarily around JD.

I agree, BuzzLaw. I think one of JD's huge assets is his ability to "slide" with the ball. He's got the lateral movement that is critical to the B-Back position. I think it was against Miami, he's got this amazing run where he is able to set up the LB with a later move, and he just cruises past like its nothing.

JD is a bruiser, with speed, with moves. I certainly think Allen will get snaps, but that just makes JD more dangerous. Imagine the same number of yards with even fewer carries - he may average over 7.5 YPC next year.

Edit: By the way, are people forgetting that JD ran for 7 YPC last year? Man, that's a crazy stat.

Who is not going to start? Voss may start at center but not take most of the snaps. Is this what you're getting at? Roddy not starting in the backfield? LMAO. Will CPJ start as head coach?

OK, decent question but get real. You thought last year was crazy. You ain't seen nuthin yet.

Well here's a clue:

“We’re really just trying to figure out who the best three backs are going to be and get the best three guys on the field at the same time,” A-backs coach Jeff Monken said. Allen is “anxious to learn. He’s anxious to play.”

So I bet we go 5 deep on backs, and we rotate everyone in and out of both A and B back positions. So instead of arguing who's better at A and B and whatnot, lets all just make a top 5 list.

Jon Dwyer
Anthony Allen
Roddy Jones
Embry Peeples

5th spot - Marcus Wright? Or do we finally get around to redshirting him and use Luke Cox in the #5 spot?

1st string rb:
B-Dwyer
A-Allen
A-Jones

2nd string rb:
B-Watson
A-Wright
A-Cox

Here's a lock: Mount Barnes will take D-Rich's spot.

I disagree.

Our results when Dwyer got 10 or less carries in a game were bad. Real bad.

I honestly think Dwyer may be a top five draft pick whenever he chooses to go out. Very few NFL backs with his size, speed, and power.
