who is your favorite commit?

Yeah we have q sims at receiver then Daniel mckayhan who were both redshirted last year. Then the walk on Kevin cone who looked great in spring ball.

We also have Melton and Fisher. Both started games last year, neither are outstanding, I see Hill starting if not game 1, by the middle of the season. I think that is why he came here, the opportunity to start right away.

Kevin Cone. Remember the name. He will catch a lot of ball for us this year. Son of former Tech standout Ronnie Cone. Certified stud WR who redshirted last fall.

My favorite commit of this class is Steven until Dontae signs, then it's Steven and Dontae.

Graduated high school with Kevin...can't wait to watch him play. And trust me, the kid is an athlete. Started for the football team that went to the elite 8, basketball team that went to the final four, and state championship track team.

Favorite recruit: Robbie Godhigh.

+1

Having watched Godhigh in high school, PWO or not, the kid is going to make some noise here. He did it all - he was Harrison's ENTIRE offense, he played safety, returner, played hurt in their playoff game and was still a difference maker. Hell, the 5'6" kid even blocked a kick or two! Remember his name...he will be a star by the time he leaves here.

My personal favorite is Ray Beno, closely followed by Stephen Hill and Jordan Luallen.

I love the entire class because it is so solid from top to bottom...

I like many of the names above but don't forget the following: Jemea Thomas, JC Lanier, Cross (at DT), Cummings/Crenshaw, Foster, and Luallen.

This class is very good from top to bottom. We will have several players that will redshirt next year and become major stars in 2010 when the 2007 class is on it's way out.

Favorite player: JC Lanier. I love beef up the middle. If Drummond wa playing MLB, he would be my 2nd favorite. Can you imagine a DT/MLB combo of TJ Barnes (325-340), JC Lanier (320), and Drummond (245-255). No one would run up the middle on us.

btw...they are trying to get Barnes and Lanier to lose a lot of weight. Matter of fact, Lanier is supposedly down to 300-305 from a high of 340.

I heard that. I don't know why our scheme doesn't allow for weight up the middle. We never seem able to stop teams for those tough yards. We are too easily pushed off the LOS.

What is Barnes approximate weight? I hope he stays in the 315-320 area.

DEFENSE:

Roderick Sweeting + JC Lanier

Because you MUST HAVE a lock-down corner and a bulldozer in the middle....if you want to win against big-time programs.

OFFENSE:

OL + Stephen Hill

Remember, just cause he weighs 340 lbs doesn't mean it's all good. If they're trying to get him to loose weight it's probably cause its fat. However this really only makes sense for Lanier, who is new incoming. I agree it doesn't seem to make sense to make Barnes drop weight.

As far as favorite, I'm going to say Luallen and Hill, just because I'm getting the feeling both of them are going to try to work up the depth chart as true freshmen and form a sort of group tandem like Nesbitt and Dwyer on O and Burnett and Jefferson on D.
i.e. : http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/shared-blogs/ajc/cfbrecruit/entries/2009/01/30/georgia_tech_co_8.html (read near the bottom)

I wouldn't be surprised if, at least against Jax State, we see some passing tandem thing between Luallen and Hill.

edit: and dont make fun of the fact that I couldnt think of a better word than tandem (damn you Crabtree)

I like the entire class...I'm no pro scout, so if CPJ and staff like him, I like him. The guy that I feel like I can root for the most is Godhigh. He's going to be a beast for us. Super strong and beefy...I knew nothing about this kid until about a week ago and I like what I've seen and heard. A little guy, but he's quick, strong, and hopefully we find a way to use him.

300-310 is plenty big enough for a DL especially if he can move.

I had heard that he had bulked up to 355 and the coaches want him at 330 to 335

Sims and Luallen. I have heard allot of good things about Sims and Luallen has looked impressive in the little I have seen of him.

Hey, it only takes one in that case, as long as your fish are still swimming.
Regardless of that, I can't think of one instance where it wouldn't hurt like the bejeezus to lose a testicle.:wow:

Don't follow recruiting close enough to have a reasoned opinion of my favorite. Probably the one that is most instrumental in continuing our reign of dominance over UGA(g), which will hopefully be most of them.

I am absolutely thrilled that we beat...

Uga this past year but I struggle with equating one win as a "reign of dominance". If that is your definition, how did you describe the three win streak? or for that matter Uga's 2 recent 7 win streaks? Admire the exuberance but the language is a bit over the top.
