Who would we want to play in the Orange Bowl?

I think we have as good a chance as any team to win the ACC. To me, on paper, Va Tech looks the best and I like us next. We have them at home. Why not?
Let's play Pitt in the Orange Bowl.

Its not a knock to say "if" we win the ACC. A team that is an outright favorite still may have far less than a .5 probability of winning.

id like to see a respectable wvu team so we could get some damn retribution on those mountaineer mo fos

I would not ever want to play a Big East school in the Orange Bowl. Blech. Why don't you go ahead and wish for a bad case of diarhea.

Even if you beat them, you get zero respect.

I just realized that what is actually our best chance of getting a non Big East team in the Orange Bowl would be to have Notre Dame get into a BCS bowl. That might move enough things around to get a change.

gsu_paintballer, where do you live, I would like to come slap you in the mouth.

If we play like we are supposed to play, we may very well go undefeated. But we will probably lose 1, hopefully not 2 that we are supposed to win.

So profound. How do you keep coming up with these kinds of superb posts? ? ?:laugher: I just figured it out. You are a dick. Good job, Mr. Significant. :laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher:

Not advocating violence, but I somewhat feel your anger.

Baller has turned into a real jackass lately.:(

That was actually pretty funny.

Although I don't think there was anything stupid about BoR's post.

kevinw33, go away. I like your brother. I have no feelings of like or dislike towards you. You are insignificant.

I tend to follow the actions of those around me.

Realistically GT is less than 50% for the division.

I do think we've got a decent chance to field the best team. But VT has a much easier slate thanks to missing FSU and Clemson.

My guess is that we beat VT but we are their only ACC loss while we are 6-2.

But all the same we have a reasonable shot....

I just don't think Clemson's gonna do that much this fall. Good talent overall, but missing some serious maturity at key positions - namely QB. They also won't get us w/o a mobile QB like last year. One way or the other, one of our QB's will be ready to take the team that day. Hope it's Josh, so he can put the beat down on the tigs.

Clemson isn't going to be a worry if we have any defense of respectable level. Doesn't matter who the QB is, they wouldn't of ever played an away game before.

yeah we might end up with 2 ACC loses at maximum, and those will be our only two. At the same time, shouldn't we be able to put up a pretty darn good argument to make it in as an BCS at large team?

..just a thought. I still think we only lose one game, that being either F$U or UVA.

I think we crush UVA. They embarrassed us at our own homecoming and are in need of some payback.

Of course you could make a similar case for Miami beating us this season after losing 4 in a row...
But Miami doesn't suck nearly as bad as UVA.

I think at this point, on a stand alone basis, we would only be clear underdogs in one ACC game, that being at FSU. Does this mean we will win the other games? No.
What it means is that we can in fact win the ACC, we can end up with only 1 or 2 losses in the regular season.

With so many players coming back with more experience, it is much harder to tell what's going to happen than it would be if it was just dealing with graduations.

Whoever is up there thinking they have a chance at their championship is probably thinking the same thing about playing anybody from the ACC unfortunately.

At this point I'd rather play ECU than a Big East team given the choice, or at least the ECU team from last year.

I'd really like to see GT play someone like Texas or OK or even Nebraska, I think it'd be fun to take the option against Nebraska.

BTW, GT will beat Clemson and Miami no question. I worry more about UNC or FSU. I am not concerned about VT. They will get crushed this year....

Why even discuss the Orange Bowl? I know that it is an Automatic tie-in for the ACC Champion; and it would be great to be the ACC Champs, but it would be better to have the Orange Bowl to FALL BACK ON.

The BCS Championship ( which would mean we were ACC Champs anyway) is where PJ has his sights set. And while it would take a lot to get there, it could happen. If you will recall, before the 1990 season Ken Swilling said that Tech was gonna go all the way.

Unfortunately there are fans from about 50 D1-A football teams saying the same thing you are on some message board somewhere and 49 of those teams will not win the championship.

But you are right. The TEAM should set its sights for the championship but if they fall short and "fall back on" the orange bowl, or the gator bowl with a 9 win regular season the fans should not be disappointed or angry.

A realistic fan goal is 10 wins and play in the ACC championship game. PJ expects his players to win one game a week.
