Who's seen enough?

I will always watch and root for GT sports when I can. .

Today is the day that I realize either -I am wasting my time thinking/hoping that this staff will ever be successful, or it really is going to take 2 more years to see any improvement.

GT did beat Duke in a fairly even game. Our best game of the season, beating UNC, seems like a long-ago anomaly. Along with Duke, Georgia Tech is the worst team in the ACC. The defense is one of the worst that I have seen at GT and I am a fan of defense as I’d rather win a game 14-10 than 35-31.

The next two games are against top 10 teams, one the number one team and our in-state rival. I typically would look forward to games like this -going up against really good teams and see what we can do. Over the next two weeks I have no desire to watch GT play ND or UGA. Granted I will watch, but with absolutely no hope of, not only winning, but competing “at an elite level.”

This is a ööööty feeling to have, but it’s where I am right now as a 50+ year fan of this program. At least apathy hasn’t crept in … yet.

Ok let's be honest.

Special teams are fantastic after sucking for over a decade.
Offense is coming together

The problem is defense. It's not a talent problem - we have studs in the back 7. It's coaching. Thacker is in over his head - let him go for god's sake.
There was that clank off the upright PAT to tie, ahem not tie the game up.

I’d like you to stfu because you complained relentlessly with CPJ. You earned this

He complains about everything. Comes off as miserable and sad.

He doesn’t contribute money to the program or attend games. He just enjoys being miserable.

Judging by attendance and the indifference here…too many have seen enough.

I agree those drone shots today were demoralizing. At best 25 to 30% full. The level of apathy is at a all time high in my opinion. If we lose out this year, it will be the lowest 3 year winning percentage since the late 20s early 30s. We are witnessing the worst stretch of Tech football in our lifetime.

But 404, ATL, we have the Juice.

Who cares about special teams improvement. Contrary to what Collins thinks about its importance, it matters much less than defense, and we suck on defense.

Not really seeing where Thacker earned being our DC.......

"After graduating from Furman, Thacker coached at UCF, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, Kennesaw State and back at UCF before becoming Temple's linebacker coach underneath Geoff Collins in 2017."
Thacker seems like a cool guy. I’m sure the players like him. He’s in over his head right now. Maybe CGC thought he’d grow into the role, but our defense needs to be a strength, not a major liability. We make every QB look like Tom Brady.

I think on the post game ride home they said Tech defense had given up 60 plays of 20+ yards this season. It’s an Xs & Os problem on the defensive side of the ball. I think the players are talented, but hopelessly out of position play after play.

I wonder what the dynamic is in Collins staff and what their opinion is of him. Obviously the group he brought from Temple are only coaching at the P5 level because he brought them along. I wonder what Key, Choice and Coleman think.
We blamed Key for the Offensive line woes to this point. What I do not understand is how he could have been good enough for Saban to hire him and retain him for that role but he fails miserably here. The talent is different but the techniques are the same. Are the practice routines limiting his and the other coaches' ability to teach?
