Why all the hate for Bennett?

Can anyone here say they want to see TB be our starting QB next season? If so please explain to me why? I for one hope that I never see him throw another pass again in a Tech uniform.
I'm not saying that I want to see him there, but if CPJ decides that he is our best option at the position I'd be fine with it. Next season's offense will require a different skill set than TB had to use this year. Much of it is based upon the QB make quick, correct reads based on the actions of the d-line. While everyone assumes that the QB has to be a dual threat, just about any QB can run the system, because the correct read will give even the slowest QB a solid gain, if he has to keep the ball.

And if it makes you feel any better, even if he is the starter, you may never see him throw another pass again in a Tech uniform.:D

I understand that beej. My point was that's not the way PJ normally runs it. We'll all see how he adjusts as time goes on.

exactly. IIRC, no TE's listed on navy's roster
and when PJ took over he told everyone to stop/no more recruitment of TE's for this years class.

I think its obvious we won't have any of those on our roster in a few years.

Also, TB is too slight to play TE....he won't be able to gain 40 lbs in less than 1 year to play TE. Remember...he is a Sr.

Maybe he just looked at our roster and noticed that we have 5 underclass TEs in the program already.

Doing a little detective work I see. It's funny how all the information isn't brought out at the beginning but just enough to fill agendas.

You can certainly run flexbone with a TE.

This is a superb treatment of how the flexbone works, tactically: (page appropriately titled "What are they doing at the Naval Academy?")

I don't see CPJ running that. If you listen to what he says about his formation, he uses wide splits along with splitting the wide receivers way out almost sideline to sideline. This is where he is different than most flexbone coaches and why he calls his version a spread. TE's will be rarely if at all featured in a CPJ offense.

LOL. I still don't see him getting the nod over Nesbitt. Nesbitts ability to run makes him the clear cut favorite IMO. We have seen what he can do running the ball even when the defense knows he is only in there to run, he still picked up nice yardage.

I don't disagree, but it seems to me there's got to be a reason that JN's play package was limited to run left, run right, throw long. That is a huge concern IMO.

I'm not reading anything into that other than Chan decided he was going to be the change of pace guy. Therefore he didn't bother to work him into the normal offensive package. With the way we "used" our QBs the last 6 years, I'll give Josh the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong.

I'm hoping the reason is Chan Gailey. But I know what you mean.I think Nesbitt has the physical ability in spades. Whether he can digest the playbook and learn to run PJ's offense is another matter. If I had to give odds on the starter without seeing them in the offense:Nesbitt;55%Booker;17.5%Bennett;10%Jaybo/best qb recruit; 17.5%I don't think Taylor will come in minus mop-up duty. If PJ scoffs at Renfree fitting the system, Tater is screwed. Booker has a better shot but he is still a pocket passer.I think if Nesbitt can't win it outright, it will be a frosh.

there's not hate for TB on my part, he's just not very good.

When the offense runs the option, the linemen need to have wide splits so the quarterback can make the give/keep read more easily.

He said some stupid stuff at the beginning of the season about "don't worry, we'll see BC again" which made him seem pretty arrogant. Plus, I've heard from several people on campus that he's a dick.

But I don't think I've ever said anything other than the fact he's very mediocre and would not start at any other ACC school.
