Why Georgia?

-Because thats all a Tech player hears about year
round.
-Its all we see on the news, their postgame show on TV
(we dont have one), and in the Atlanta Urinal or
Al-Jazeera Constitution (whichever you prefer)
- because every other car in atlanta has a "G" on the
front plate
- because alot of their fans didnt even go to georgia
-Because the sense of accomplishment in beating UGA
was 2nd to none, at least back when I was wearing
white and gold
-Because they are mentioned in our fight song
-Because I and a bunch of other guys worked so damn
hard to get us turned around and felt we had really
set the table and left things better than we found it.
Apparently, we did as we won 2 more games after I
left. Unofrtunately, we have totally regressed since
(6 in a row).
-Because I hate being 2nd at anything
-Because I hate feeling owned
_ Because they stomped on the GT at midfield after
beating us in 1997
-Because there are alot more UGA fans in this state
than wake, duke, and every other acc team combined
-Because this is one of the oldest rivalries in
college football
-Because there are books, including "clean old
fashioned hate", written abiout this game..none I am
aware about any other team we play
-Because I can still pull out my hedge and wave it to
any loud mouth UGA fan(s) who might be at my house
-Because it can effect recruiting
-Because our calculus taking student-athletes have the
opportunity of beating a team with a bunch of sports
studies or leisure & recreation studies majors
-Because they dont respect us
- Because its one of the reason why you come to Tech,
to take part in this great tradition and try to make
your mark on this series
- because its acc vs. sec
- Because my personal desire to beat UGA is something
that still gets my adrenaline pumping to this day!
- Because we knew how badly all the fans wanted it, or
so we thought back in my day
-Because they dont count some of our wins against them
- Because in my opinion, not beating UGA is something a player lives with year round and if they never beat them, its something they
never forget. Just to let you all know I was talking
to some of the older guys yesterday who never beat UGA
and that is the one thing they ALWAYS comment on.
"Man, I wish we could have beat Georgia, that must
have been a great feeling."

God bless you for what you gave then, and what you believe now.

And there are some so called GT fans who say beating ugag is not the most important thing.

If they continue to have their way, we will be in the company of SMU, Tulane and Duke.

who cares if most of there fans didnt even go to uga, are you gonna turn away tech fans because they didnt attend the college.. in fact tech could use some more sidewalk fans... other than that i totally agree

I didnt/dont attend Tech (see username).

I am a big fan though. He is talking about people that dont know anything about football. They are Ugay fans because its the cool thing to do.

Hell Yes!

Let's go beat the stuffing out of the Bulldogs on Nov. 24th.

The Jackets may end up in San Fran for a Bowl Game. Thus, forget about some nice Christmas trip east of the Mississippi for the team, family members, and fans, and let's take it out on the Bulldogs for the Thanksgiving holiday.

In my opinion, this is always the most important game of the year, and we need to get revved up for some "Clean Old-Fashioned Hate" this week.

For Nov. 24th, on every play the Jackets need to "Get there firstest with the mostest!"

Go Jackets!

This may be the best post in Stingtalk history.

When you root for UGA, the terrorists win.

I could wipe my ass on toilet paper, send it to UGA Admisssions, and get an acceptance letter back in a matter of days; but why waste the postage? I could stick the same piece of paper on my wall, and have a UGA degree!

Just awesome Nate!!

Measuring success by participating in a watered down acc has led some of the younger fans to diminish the COFH their elders have for uga. In my opinion of course.

It may have been while you were there that I had my daughter on campus during an afternoon practice in August.
Even though we were hundreds of yards away from Rose Bowl Field, the sounds of "To Hell With Georgia" during calistenics were loud and clear as a bell. Gave me goose bumps.

Hey! --watch it there buddy --you're hitting a little to close to home!

Great post...I think Gailey should have Letterman, Keith Brookings etc..., before & after each practice this week come in & give this speech & similiar speeches to make sure that when GT hits the field on Saturday . 1. We're focused & full of hate 2. Going to leave it all out there on the field 3. Walk away after 4 qtrs. of a hard fought game with a W and a New beginning of a win streak of our OWN!!!
GO JACKETS!

Eh. I have mixed feelings on this. I don't mind people being college fans of particular schools however when one of these fans berates me it infuriates me and normally I follow up with a tirade something along the lines of the following:

Air conditioning repair tech comes to my house in UGAy hat and perhaps stained UGAy shirt.

Neck: "Ah so's I see you a Tech guy - eh?"

Me: "Yeah. Alumni 98. Been a rough few years."

Neck: "Dogs gonna whip up on ya boys this year real good."

Me: "So I take it you are a dog fan then huh ?"

Neck: "Go DAWGS!"

Me: "Great. I'm a Florida fan and an LSU fan."

Neck: "You done just said you's a Tech fan. ??"

Me: "Well you aren't a UGA alumni, let alone an alumni of a high school, let alone have ever even stepped foot on the campus of UGAy."

Neck: " ... "

Me: "So I declare myself a Florida, LSU, Tennessee fan and those three programs kill you on a yearly basis."

Neck: " ... so ... what was you sayin was wrong with the AC?"

Or we could recruit better players and hire a coaching staff that doesn't blow.

Go jackets !

I think Gailey's problem is that he still has an NFL mentality where beating a team in your division is so much more important that an out-of-division win.

Gailey doesn't have "it" for UGa like O'Leary, Ross and Curry did. I don't think he gets the whole "rivalry" thing.

I remember O'Leary saying after the 1997 game that losing to Uga was like "...having my rib cage ripped out." Somehow, I just don't see Chan ever saying anything like that.

Each season for over a century, the UGa game is has presented us with a season-finale that eclipses any game played before it. The Uga game can make a bad season good, a good season great and a great season fantastic. How you respond to challenges like this is what defines you.

But I worry because I think I care more about winning this game then our coach does. Or that we have to resort to threatening to fire him to make him understand that beating UGa is more important than beating Wake Forest. Besides, if beating Wake is more important than beating UGa, then for the love of Buddha, beat Wake Forest.

Its not a good feeling when I know full well that the team we see take the field on Saturday will not be much if any different that the one we've seen eleven previous Saturdays: a quart low and three cogs short of a well-oiled machine. Not for lack of effort on the part of the players but a level of execution that betrays a lack of adequate preparation and a lack of synchronization.

We are good enough to beat Georgia. We will play hard enough to beat Georgia. But whether we win or not will have a lot to do with how well prepared we are. And if the outcome of the game comes down to coaching - and it frequently does - I do not have a good feeling about that.

Why Georgia?

- because MOST of their fans didnt even go to georgia
- Because in my opinion, not beating UGA is something a player lives with year round and if they never beat them, its something they never forget. Just to let you all know I was talking to some of the older guys yesterday who never beat UGA and that is the one thing they ALWAYS comment on. "Man, I wish we could have beat Georgia, that must
have been a great feeling." But it's just a game, dog. It's just Georgia...

Made two corrections, other than that, great post.
