Why Georgia

The MOST important thing is that the ship gets righted, we get a coach, and possibly an athletic director if necessary, that can lead this storied program back to Canaan from the wilderness.

Yeah, that's it !! Send Brookings to talk to the team! Kinda fitting, since none of HIS teams ever got a win over UGA, either!!

You'll have plenty of time to remember the "Glory Days" after we put an end to your lucky streak this Saturday.

Like in 1997 when UGAy showed its true colours by stomping on the GT logo after winning the game b/c of a bullsh!t PI call. You guys are such a classy bunch.

I didnt/dont attend Tech (see username).

I am a big fan though. He is talking about people that dont know anything about football. They are Ugay fans because its the cool thing to do.

I agree I have not posted here in a long long time, because those that went to Tech have made it clear that we are not welcome…. I am still a fan though, I HATE THE DOGS. However one reason you don’t have more fans across the state is because the University Community turns it’s back on & looks down on most of the residents of the state of Georgia. That glorified high school in Athens welcomes them. What percentage of Tech Students actually went to High school in Georgia; 20%, 25%? That was not the case when my Dad was in school in the 50’s. You have had the perfect opportunity to reach out to a student body that is twice the size of your own. Increasing your fan base now and for the future, but you blew it. Now Georgia State is going to start a program, and it won’t hurt Georgia at first but it will hurt Tech. I am happy for my school but it saddens me for Tech. I will always hate the Dogs, & my 10 year old Son loves Tech, but the way the Tech community treats the people who want to be for it is sad.

You seriously think there are only 20% in state students at Tech? You're only off by about 45+ percentage points.

I...those that went to Tech have made it clear that we are not welcome…. ...the way the Tech community treats the people who want to be for it is sad.

I hear ya and respect your opinion but I have to call a BS on this one.

I didn't attend The Institute (had the SAT but not the grades) but I've been a fan since the 60's and I've never felt anything but welcome. Same goes for StinGTalk. My daughter is now a student (hence the name) and yells THWG like her daddy used to do (still does actually).

I hate the mutts more than anyone, and our current status vis a vis them just makes me sick. Truth be told though, I'm a bit jealous of them. They have a swagger that we should have. We have a richer legacy than they do and we have just as much or more to be proud of. It's just intellectually easier to be a UGAg fan but it's more satisfying to associated, if only vicariously, with a school like Tech.

This is pretty simple to me - we start putting a consistently high quality product on the field and we will become the hot ticket in Atlanta. It's not rocket science! (hey if it was wouldn't we be in a great position to figure it out?)

Everyone has their own personal experiences and are entitled to their own opinions --but I have had a different experience.

As a (lifelong) GT fan and a UGA graduate I have always felt welcome among GT fans and alums. Here at StinGTalk --where like you, I put what I'm about in my user name (GT65 -lifelong fan, UGA89- '89 BS Mathematics -Statistics) I've never had one poster make me feel like I didn't belong --I thank the alum here for treating me like one of them.

Same can be said for the people I sit around @ BDS. I wear my class ring (which has the Georgia 'G' in the center of a ruby stone) and every now and then someone will get a glimpse of it and ask me what the hay? After I tell my story I usually get a pat on the back --this year I got a "God I love you man" from a guy a couple of rows above me.

GTDad: It's just intellectually easier to be a UGAg fan but it's more satisfying to associated, if only vicariously, with a school like Tech.

Believe me --it would have been alot easier for me to be a UGA fan --he77 I graduated from there. It helped that GT won two-in-a-row during my time there --and that my dad is a life-GT'er as well who didn't attend, but grew up near Tech (an O'Keefe HS alum) and has been going to games as far back as the early-50's.

But GTDad is correct as far as I'm concerned --I do have the history of BEING a GT fan my whole life (first game @GF in '66 as an infant)-- but it is more satisfying to be associated with a school like Tech.

Besides --I'm the type of guy who enjoys being out somewhere --seeing 10 guys with UGA hats on while I'm wearing my GT hat.

GSU, don't let the elitists drive you away. We alum are extremely proud we "got out" and sometimes that sounds like we don't respect others. Surely, Tech means a lot more to us than just athletics so we can tend to overemphasize the whole "Tech" experience to those who are hear for the athletics. But we want and need all the support we can get.

But you are incorrect above. When I was a student in the early 70's Tech was 50% instate and that has grown to 60% instate in the last class.

In fact, UGAg is demographically changing far more than Tech is. They are down to about 80% instate and they are taking on a stronger Metro Atlanta flavor in their enrollment which you can imagine is perhaps <50% second generation Georgian.

Ramblinwise1 I stand corrected.

GT65_UGA89 I respect your courage and commitment. You must take a lot of crap from the ugag people. My experience goes back to when I was at State in the 80’s and I need to forget it and drive on. Since my son was 6 I have been bringing him to Tech games and he has become a fanatical fan. When State plays Tech in baseball I cheer for State & he is all Tech, any other time I am in Gold & White. My wife announced that since her school Randolph Macon Woman’s College sold out changed it’s name and admitted men she is changing her allegiance and sending her money to Ga Tech.

So here we are 3 committed sidewalk fans, and 2 more who will be as soon as they are old enough to say “To hell with Georgia”

To Hell with Georgia!!!

I did not attend GT, and dont really give a **** if the alums like me, accept me or otherwise. I am a yellow jacket fan because I chose to be.

Let the sheep be lead to uga, I will chose my own way.

GO JACKETS!!!!!

Hate on, Nate, hate on!

Preach it, brutha!

I can still picture in my mind being out in the back yard racking leaves with my Dad. (66, 67?) We had a good sized wooded lot (practically natural, we found rattlesnake skins, Atlanta) in a subdivision type development and if you didn't rake the litter layer would overwhelm your property. We did all this by hand. We also sawed down massive trees (hand saws and axes) did years of dirt work by pick, shovel and wheelbarrow and all sorts of prairie ****. Only until we had accomplished our goals. (Thank God!)

Before the days of ESPN, you were lucky to get on TV. We were listening to Ciraldo on a small transistor radio propped up somewhere while we were raking leaves. I was young (around 11, I guess) and hopeful. Georgia KICKED OUR ASS. 48 to 3 or something. Just one more reason I'm pissed off to this day.

I'd love to just beat these bitches 7-6. Much, much worse will always be better.

But we'd better be careful because they've demonstrated their craftiness by defiling other people's holy places.

End gerbil abuse!
