Why I Am Really Liking Paul Johnson

Re: George

I still think there is a lot of GT fans (Buck was hitting on this ) that put a very low ceiling on our program...

Considering that our AD for a decade felt this way, it imbued our GTAA with that attitude. Even Ross and GOL gruffed about how difficult it was.

I don't hear that from CPJ. He welcomed the strictures at the USNA and he won anyway. He welcomed the strictures at GA Tech, and I believe h will win.

He hasn't coached a game here yet, but I see him with the same cocky attitude that Spurrier has. He just utterly hates to lose, and he KNOWS how to win with his offense. I'd not bet against him. I's also bet he does it sooner than later at Tech.

He lost a few at the USNA, on the order of 3-4 a year, and he'll drop a few here. I believe the talent thing is very relative. I also believe that the door is wide open for us to step up big time in the ACC right now.

Does anyone believe that a CPJ team would have only scored 6 points in that ACCCG vs. WFU?

Guys, he will win here... and it could happen this year. We have the hosses and the coaches to do it.

Re: George

I think the issue is that there just aren't that many Tech fans period. Most of ATL doesn't care. When we win and CPJ's attitude starts to rub off on the program we'll pick up quite a bit imo. Until then, we'll just have to deal with the talking heads.

A strong local fan base starts with a stong local alumni base.

Which Tech doesn't have.

Nate,

I liked Oleary, but didn't like the way he prepared our team for Ugag that last year he was here (As he had his sights on the Notre Dame job)

Could you substantiate this? Wouldn't performing well in the UGA game have given him an even bigger leg-up on the ND job?
