Why Shouldn't We Beat UGA Next Year?...

Re: Honestly?

We lost because we didn't play well. We had our opportunities as many have mentioned but we made mistakes that kept us from the win. We didn't lose because ugag is better or dominated us. It isn't about schemes or players or play calling imo, it's simply playing a good game. Maybe the guys are just too tight? I don't know the reason but limit mistakes and we beat them next year as we should/could have the last 2 years.

I completely disagree.

UGA wants to beat us more than we want to beat them. They bring their A game every time. We often play this game flat. IMHO, it is because ~95% of their students, players and fans are lifelong Georgia residents. What percentage of GT students, players, and fans can say that?

IMHO, you are totally correct that we need to focus on the ACC and we need to keep the Georgia game in perspective, IMHO. However that is not an overwhelming opinion.

I maintain that if we beat UGA but go 3-5 in the ACC, while UGA plays in the SEC game, UGA will still hand pick the GA players. If we are in the conference champ game and UGA is not, WE will start 'choosing' recruits regardless of the head to head record.

We have gone toe-to-toe with the best the SEC has to offer despite our two star recruits and hot-seat coaches. That says a lot about the status of our program compared to the SEC. We are better than most of us care to admit.

If we'd have brought our A game we wouldn't have dropped 6 passes in the 1st half alone.

GT has done very well despite the disadvantages in recruiting. You should be proud.

UGA? We\'ll Beat Them Like A Persian Rug

We're going to beat Notre Dame and UGa next year. I dunno about what happens in-between.

We'll have a pretty good team.

NO WAY

I think you completely misread things. Tech players want to win as badly as ugag players. In fact, maybe too much. Since we haven't won in a while the players have too much emotion IMO which leads to some of the dumb mistakes we make. ugag otoh, wants the win but plays more relaxed because of their string of success against us.

These last two years remind me of O'Leary's last two before we broke through. Don't forget that it took some good breaks for us to finally get a win (refs calling Joe's almost TO correctly). Once we did then it became another game and our guys played to their ability. I think that's where we are now.

I disagree.

I value your input, but I don't see any proof that you are correct.

Do you have any real evidence?

Re: I disagree.

Interesting, you post wtte ugag wins because they want it more, and you ask me for proof? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hugelaugh.gif Where's your?

I live in VA. When I lived in GA I did want to

win more. When I lived in MS before that I don't recall even watching all the games.

At least I point out that we have more non-GA people to whom the Miami, VT, and FSU games are as, if not more, important. UGA fans are not prominent outside of a small halo aroung the state. That matters.

On 790 before the game, they were pointing out how important it was for UGA to stress the importance of the game to masaqui (sp) one of their rare players with limited ties to the state. Why would former players say that?

It is a strong theory that it is more important to residents of the state.
It is a fact that more UGA players, fans, and alumni are ga born and bred.

So it follows that GA players care more.

If you disagree with the 'strong theory' above, explain why.

Re: I live in VA. When I lived in GA I did want to

First explain to me what the hell a "strong theory" is?

But just to play along how's this. We have at least as many Ga players on our roster as out of staters. Don't you think they talk it up to their teammates? Don't you think the big time alums who get close to the team talk about how important it is? Dont' you think our players are smart enough to see the ugag bias in every part of ATL and Ga? And don't you think they read/hear the disparaging comments towards them and the coaching staff.

As someone from out of state who went to Tech, let me tell you that it takes very little time on campus to generate a very healthy hatred for everything ugag. Every state and school has it's biggest rival. It's pretty easy to figure out how deep this one goes, especially after playing in it once.

BTW, don't know about MS but growing up in NC, the ugag-Tech game was on every year. Along with TX-A&M, Neb-Colo, Pitt-PSU, etc, it has always been a part of the Thanksgiving weekend. I don't think many of these kids were unaware of the rivalr. Maybe they didn't know how intense it is, but that's easy to learn. BTW, I don't think the comments about "teaching" Massaquoi were anything other than hype. He's a smart kids by all accounts...I'm sure he got it.
