first of all with excellent field position like we had in the 2nd half there is NO excuse why we shouldn't have won that game...here are some others:

1. Clemson's defense just flat out whipped our boys upfront. That hurt me just watching it!

2. AJ made some very poor decisions today. There were times where he had plenty of time and threw some terrible passes. Plus he didn't do a great job avoiding the rush. (CLONE JOE!!!!)

3. Too many penalties. We were undisciplined today. And I hate to tell ya folks but that goes back to poor coaching!

4. If you've heard it once you've heard it a thousand times- special teams special teams special teams!!! We make that extra point and we're kicking the tying field goal at the end.

1) We came out in a nickel and kept in it while CU ran.
2)We came out throwing on our first two series when our strength is run to the left.
3) When we finally started running, on second possession, we ran to the RIGHT. Bad start. With a team as good as CU (who should be 3-0), you don't act coy, you attack with your strength, on O and D.
4) The 2 dropback passes on 2nd and 1 were awful calls for a team down in the score and looking crappy. We needed those 1st and 10s.
5) Bilbo should have come in for a series, WITH the 1st string line, after the intentional grounding to the wrong side of the field. Suggs was rattled and needed a break.

All the above were poor to bad coaching decisions.
Still, we could have won in the last minute.

Other stuff was just Football. Maybe the time-out was called when it looked like Clem was going to go for it, just before they evidently decided to kick. Once you call the time out, it's called, you can't take it back. I suppose it might have been a bad decision, even in that case.

1. We were whipped on the line of scrimmage both OL and DL. Way too much pressure on Suggs from the attacking pass rush and they were blowing us off the ball with NO pressure on Simmons.

2. Horrendous mental mistakes. Poree not downing the punt, Hargroves offsides on 4th down and personal foul penalties. Very disturbing. If we don't play smart we won't beat Wake much less anybody better.

3. Suggs didn't show much leadership. No pep talk, no getting on his teammates, just not terribly sharp. Threw a lot of good balls that were dropped tho. Our receivers looked SKAIRT.

4. Hollings was awesome.

5. Poor tackling on special teams. No, very poor tackling on special teams.

6. Coaching? Not impressive. Several gaffs like the timeout before half. Play calling sucked. No quick look ins, only 1 pass to tight end. No runs for the fullback. Low percentage passes on first down putting us in a hole. Nothing aimed at the corners to keep Clemson honest. Same ole BOB. Can't believe we didn't see Bilbo. Only blitzes I saw on D were safety jumping into the pile of lineman, getting nowhere near Simmons, leaving corners with man coverage and no help.

7. We ain't top 25 material yet folks. BYU will be a stern test at home.

Offsides 4th and 3 on a punt in the 1st giving them the ball back.

Personal foul penalties

Intentional grounding (thats a no-no)

Botched PAT play

Allowing a deep punt to roll into the endzone while a rapt defender watches on (on the tube you could see the Clemsonites in the background falling on the ground in laughter)

Overcoverage on punts, running past the ball, effectively taking yourself out of the play

Throwing the ball in the air and celebrating the game-winning turnover miracle from God and incurring a 15 yd penalty which in turn takes you out of field goal range after celebration penalties should already be a sore subject this year.

Repeatedly "taking" sacks

Interceptions. Theres a such a thing as brilliant
DB play and then theres playing catch with the defenders.

A couple of bad breaks, lack of preparation and a poopy gameplan.

I still can't believe Kelley Rhino was our nickel back. He kept blowing coverage after coverage, and Tenuta didn't send in Poree or Houston. Even though he forced and recovered a turnover in the 4th quarter, our secondary took a severe hit with him in the game. As much as I like Rhino and what he means to the team, he looked far too out of place especially against much taller receivers like Youngblood & Co.

O'Brien's offensive scheme was our biggest error. On first down, I want to see Tony run the ball behind Nat. I don't want to see AJ in a spread with no back. The right side of our line couldn't stop the pass rush, and there were far too many 3rd-and-longs. I blame this loss solely on BOB, and I'm sure Chan will have some input on this matter as they watch the tapes. We took way too many risks in a game which could have been won easily with a conservative game plan. One example was a reverse to Tony in which he scrambled to the sideline and looked as if the play was meant for a halfback pass. I might understand this scheme if we were playing FSU, but not Climpsum. AJ cannot run this type of offense, and we will continue to lose until O'Brien gives more carries to our man Tony. This game was extremely disturbing...

gnats, I'm right with you, dude. If what you say is out of line, well, all of us are. I might add to your stinker list the play call on the 2-pt conversion: a drop-back pass to a slow, lumbering TE outside the EZ! Boy, I'm still in shock having witnessed such a sick, sick game.

My three cents worth:

Exceedingly bad coaching on offense, defense, and special teams.

The offense stunk. There is no imagination to the offense. We use one back and either hand off to him or pass. It is generally obvious when we are going to do either. It is the same offense used by BOB last year (no imagination). I had hoped Gailey would insist that BOB use more than one running back at all times in the backfield, but evidently he has not.

It was completely obvious Suggs was not doing well, and Bilbo should have been substituted in his place. At least, we would have more of a threat from Bilbo as a runner, which would have kept the defense of Clemson more honest. Give BOB a "D" for the offense.

Tenuta did not prepare his troops properly for Clemson's offense. We had no pressure on Simmons the whole game. It makes little difference if he rolls out, the coach needs to prepare them for both types of passing formations. Give Tenuta a "D" for his defensive coaching.

Give the special team coaches an "F" for all phases of the game. We had poor coverage on kickoffs and we made no progress on running back kickoffs. It appears our special teams coach has no knowledge of requirements for returning kickoffs.

A kickoff returner "must" be the fastest runner on the team, and he must turn on the burners immediately and head for any daylight ahead. He should "never" under any circumstances slow up to side step or get behind blockers.

Speed is the weapon for returning kickoffs. A 4.2 runner can be caught easily, by a host of 5.2 pursuers, if he slows for a mere second. He should never slow down for any reason, and should side step only if he is going full speed.

This was a poorly coached game by GT. Even though it is the fault of the offensive, defensive, and special teams coach, it eventually is the overall responsibility of the head coach. All are at fault in this game. We definitely have the better materail.

Suggs looked awful. O line looked awful. Pass Rush looked awful. With the exception of the pick, Rhino looked awful in coverage. Coaching was awful. Special Teams was awful. Officiating was pretty bad. Weather was awful.

I am shocked Bilbo did not see the field after Suggs could not move the ball. Why pass when Tony Hollings is running for 5 and 6 yards per play?
Bill O' Brien's play calling looked about as bad as the 2000 Peach Bowl(his first game as OC).

I am not impressed at all with this football team. I had been bragging on these guys and they really let me down and embarrassed me. Now we must beat BYU to avoid going to .500. And we know they will try to exploit our defense. By the way, BYU lost to Nevada 31-28.

Suggestions for future games:
1) Make good snaps on PAT.
2) Block the defensive linemen.
3) Tackle!
4) Suggs get your feet out of the molasses and move.
5) Get in the huddle and call the play so we won't burn timeouts.
6) BOB, call better plays.
7) Minimize bonehead mistakes.(Offsides, Personal foul, throwing the ball in the air after a fumble recovery)

There were two guys I was impressed by today.
Offense: Tony Hollings
Defense: Daryl Smith
Clemson: Derrick Hamilton, Willie Simmons, Tommy Bowden Coaching Staff.

We got flat outplayed and outcoached, and we still should have won.

Looks like the coaching staff got nervous and outsmarted itself with the nickel defense and all the passing in the first half. They should have stuck with our strengths: Basic defense with random blitzing, and running Tony Hollings left.
