Will Muschamp

That'll probably be a heavy bidding war between LSU and Auburn.

I've been imagining a scenario in which Charlie Strong finally gets a job (Maybe SMU?) and Tenuta is taken by Florida.

That high powered offense with JT defense!:eek:That would be a sweet deal for UF!!!

so is tenuta good this week or bad? this board seems to be a bit bipolar about tenuta.

he was great and the savior for all those years with chan, but all of a sudden he is the scapegoat after that bowl game, and his system is torched repeatedly.

but now he is the man again?

am i wrong?

I'm going to play the role of Capt. Obvious by stating that it depends entirely upon the offensive style he was facing. His defence worked fine against most ACC offenses, which relied heavily on the run and passes to the WRs. Teams that could mix it up a bit more, throw to RBs and TEs, etc. give him fits. You have to quit blitzing so much to cover the screen passes, and that not only opens the run back up, but takes pressure of the QB.

I'm not one of the guys that was bashing Tenuta and the opinions of this board don't culminate in a collective one.

1. The bowl game needed no scape goat. There was a lame duck staff and a team of players that were still bitter over Gailey's firing. Also, a win meant nothing. The only thing the bowl did was extend our streak. It still sucks that we lost though. Pissed me off like it was a real game.

2. As stated just prior to me, the board does not think as a whole. We are individuals. Individuals with emotions that change over the coarse of a season / post-season. I guess we could all switch to the negative mind-set at all times to remove any implication of a bi-polar disorder.

good move for will muschamp, I bet those longhorn fans will love his fire. I think its a good fit

Tenuta has got to be highly thought of at Auburn, seeing how he singlehandedly beat them twice this century.

Our defenses always did a good job against the screen pass. I was always impressed with how well they handled that considering how much blitzing we did.

I am also convinced that every school that has a good QB-TE connection is virtually unstoppable with that throw. We didn't look good but lots of other defenses never look good against a pass catching TE either.

Tenuta will be at LSU, giving Bama and UGA problems. and why do we have to keep talking about Muschamp? nothing to do with Tech football

Well, since we've lost to Ugag for seven years running, I'd say he won't give them too many problems.

The D gave us plenty of opportunities to win in 2004-6.

They gave up a total of three TD's and no FG's in 2005-6 combined. Really very impressive against really good UGAg teams that were peaking just about every year when we played them.

They played well for three quarters in 2007 and really should have gotten at least one defensive score. GT probably defended better against them than anyone else they played in the second half of the season. My relatives who are UGAg fans all commented on how good GT's D was. I was surprised given that we gave up 31 points, but that shows how dominant they were down the stretch.

very true... all the more reason why losing Tenuta is bigger than some want to realize...

thats right, LSU has the same players we do, not 5-star defensive tackles like Glenn Dorsey or corners that can shut down receivers one on one. exactly the same results should be expected as when tenuta coached the yellow jackets.

i swear, some of you, i dont know HOW you got in or graduated from Tech.

Geetee neither went to or graduated from GT; he's a dawg.

just as a small indicator for what tenuta will work with if he goes to LSU:
2005-2007 defensive NFL draft picks: LSU: 8 GT: 2

One thing I always thought Tenuta said (cannot find any of the quotes now) was that what he needed more for his defense was Intelligence--where players needed to be on certain blitzes, drops, etc. Now I know he had this at Tech--if he goes somewhere else, will he dumb down his defense, or do you think the talent will be able to overcome?

He won't dumb down his defense. And we have not cornered the market on intelligence! Just because a kid doesn't come to Tech doesn't mean he's dumb. CJT will have more athletes at LSU and should put together some scary defensive packages.
