it was UM's last timeout and is it unreasonable to think that Nix wanted Shannon to make that call?
I think CG probably made it clear that he was in charge of all timeouts.
The clock management was pathetic but I think Shannon was in a better position to make the call.
I remember Jimmy Johnson with Dallas screwing up the clock (I think it was his second year) and it was a factor in Dallas not making playoffs. From that point on he started wearing the headsets so his assistants could communicate to him.
Also didn't Richt screw up the timeouts in a bowl game w/ BC?
When I was watching it and the FR QB DID NOT RUN OUT OF BOUNDS it was clear a timeout needed to be taken ~41 secs and they let it click down to ~12 secs.
I think it showed Shannon's inexperience but he may learn from it. Lots of successful coaches have screwed this up in the past. Shannon probably needs a VERY experienced OC/assistant coach to help guide him.
