Will this be U[sic]GA's excuse when they lose?

they can still work they just wont get paid... i did not know that they were "hourly" employees anyway... really it's just a 0.4% pay cut per day is all it will amount to.

How about "GT had a bye week just before which gave them 2 weeks to prepare! UGA would have dominated! In fact I am 100% sure that if UGA had 2 weeks to prepare any season they would BLOW OUT the Jackets!!!".

How did the 2008 blowout go for UGA?

Georgia fans tried to tell Me the reason they lost to the Jackets last season was that they didn't do any tackling in practice that week. They made it sound like they couldn't handle the flexbone because they didn't have any tackling during practice(Because they were banged up supposidly).:laugher::rolleyes:

Um, aren't our coaches state employees as well? Won't this apply to our coaches then? If this is an edict from Perdue, after all.
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue mandated that employees of all state agencies take three furlough days by the end of 2009, and the Board of Regents required three additional furlough days by the end of the fiscal year in June 2010.

Actually they're not allowed to work. If you're on furlough and you so much as check your e-mail or field a call from your boss, it can have major legal ramifications. If U[sic]GA allows their coaches to come to practice fields when they are on furlough, they are taking a pretty big risk.

You're forgetting the source of the story. The same AJC that was quick to point out that one of UGAg's DB's was on watch list for an award, but NO WHERE listed that Burnett was also on that list.

I thought Willy Martinez had already been on furlough for the last two seasons.

GT is subject to the exact same furloughs as U[sic]GA. This is a non-story.

I actually spoke to a director in the athletic dept at uga. They pretty much said the coaches would "get around it."

Great, the one time I have "inside" information and it's about uga.

Exactly, so instead of making $2,800,000 this year, he'll make $2,754,014.65. Tragic, I know.

let's rat them out...

Actually, not necessarily. Adams at UGAg is a moron, and has decreed that everyone at UGAg will have to furlough whether or not it saves the state money.

Since our school president is not a moron, he has put a number of exceptions into the Georgia Tech policy. I'm a state employee, but since I do contract research it would actually cost the state money to furlough me, I am exempt according to Bud. I have not heard the policy on athletic department, but it would make perfect sense for them to be exempt as well. It may also help that Bud is an ex-football player.
