I was just wondering: Do any of you know or know of any UGA fan who does NOT think Willie Martinez should be fired?

If Cox ends up doing a decent job or, hell, as long as he doesn't go and pull a Jarret Lee and UGag still winds up 8-4 or lower, he will be gone.

As a Georgia Tech fan, I hope Willie has a long career ahead of him at UGAg.

^This blog post from just after 45-42 gives a lot of interesting info and numbers regarding Coach Martinez and his fine accomplishments as the top defensive mind at the University of Georgia.

Georgia has scored more than 28 points in defeat five times during the four years that Willie Martinez has served as Georgia’s defensive coordinator; and Georgia has not scored 28 or more points in defeat more than twice during the tenure of any previous defensive coordinator in Bulldog history.

i heard today that he was fine with his scheme but it was up to the players to make plays.........hahaha

The Willie Martinez Wikipedia article currently says:

Martinez named most popular DC with opposing fans.
Martinez is known as No Mas for doing the least with the most talent in the SEC. The exact opposite of OC Mike Bobo who is considered a young Genius.
Willie has a defensive philosophy that includes surrendering as many points as possible to opposing teams in order to "keep the offense on its toes".

Willie had a lot of injuries to deal with last year. The ugag fans I know were screaming for his head, but a few of them realized ugag had one of the best defenses the year it beat Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl.

I don't think they will put up with another year like last year. Its do or die for him this year. I am not sold on him being terrible (like O.C. Nix terrible) yet.

What makes you think Richt doesn't think he deserves to be fired? Haven't you heard of a human shield? You keep them around as long as you need them.

Wait... you mean that he would intentionally keep a bad coordinator around to use as a scapegoat and buy himself another year? Are you implying that St. Richt is disingenuous and/or morally imperfect?
