Bradford's coming back....... Very surprised by the decision. The pressure on Stoops now will be just unbearable. If he doesn't win the NC next year I predict he may be gone.
 
Makes sense IMO. Bradford obviously had a terrific season, but got exposed when Texas and Flar-duh put the heat on him. He always seemed like the type of kid that would stick around.

If that's the case: National Championship or you're fired, I'd be on the phone to my agent to hook up an NFL gig.
 
The look on Bradford's face after that second pick was ripped from his receiver's hands showed how young he really is. He may be a great player, but he's a kid and I think he'd get killed in the NFL right now. If he's staying, I commend him for it, and I think it will do him a world of good.

As for Stoops, I bet you're right. His fan base is unhappy, however unfair that might be.
 
Bradford's stock is as high as it will get. Heisman trophy winner, National Championship runner up, best stats in D1. ESPN was hyping him as #1 QB even over the great Stafford.

Financially this is a dumb move on his part. It will be very difficult for him to improve on his past season. Add that to the risk of injury and this young man probably just left $10 Million or more on the table.

Stoops probably brow beat him into coming back in an attempt to have one more National Championship run. Basically Oklahoma is a brides maid type of team and will always be very good but rarely great.

Bad move on Bradford's part.

If it gets out that stoops did brow beat him, as Bradfords father I would go and kick his ass. As another poster said he can't do any better and look at the money he is leaving on the table. Damn, just damn.
 
I did not see anything in the MNC game that resembled a first round pick from either QB. It may be dumb of Bradford if the rookie cap is put in place, but I think from a maturity/physical standpoint he needs another year or 2.
 
When you go pro is more about the $$$'s. His stock can only drop and he'd be wise to cash in now.

Not in the NFL its not. They can cut your a$$ in the NFL at any time. Guaranteed money is where its at in the NFL and that comes with the second contract (see Arthur Blank and Mike Vick saga). Therefore, for Bradford to come in and suck his first 2 seasons will not pay future dividends. But if he goes back to school and grows up some he could do well his first few seasons in the NFL and then cash in on some guaranteed $$$ in his 2nd contract.

Or he could tear his ACL in Week 1 at Oklahoma and never play again?

Its a tough decision because nobody can foresee the future. I'm sure one of you math guys can come up with an expected lifetime income from staying 1 more year or going pro now.
 
As a top 3 pick, he is guaranteed 20-30 M. Bradford could easily live the rest of his life with that cash, as long as he doesnt waste it on bling or a ponzi scheme.
 
I've heard that where he goes likely played a big part in his decision. The Lions need a quarterback, and maybe he didn't want to go somewhere where quarterbacks are rarely successful.
 
I thought only Mannings and Scott Boras clients pulled that kind of ****.

Yep. Vince Young got $25 million guaranteed as the #3 pick. If it weren't for Bud Adams loving the guy he'd been cut already.

Bradford is a moron. But its his life. I don't understand why any kid with his options would continue to play for a pittance while the coaches, program and TV make millions off you.

Staying his senior year really worked out for Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn.

That's dumb if that's the reason. Who's to say the Lions won't be there again next year.

When Peyton went to the Colts they were almost as bad as the Lions. The Chargers were a laughing stock when they took Eli, but Brees and Rivers were man enough to do the job after the forced trade. If Bradford's got the goods, it will show. It doesn't really matter what team. At least with the Lions he'll have Calvin Johnson, one of the best targets in the league.

Wrong, Bradford would be a project therefore given 3 to 5 years just like Cassel was.

I don't know if anyone these days have a guarenteed contract. Vick's wasn't. What the falcons went after was his signing bonus because he did not fulfill his entire contract. Your signing bonus is guarenteed if you fulfill your whole contract.

Signing bonus ='s guaranteed money. You don't invest 25 million and cut the player two years later. Only if they are a cancer too the team

Their base salary is not guaranteed. I don't think there is one guarateed contract today in football. I could be wrong though.

What I heard was that he thinks he needs to get stronger to take the pounding better. He's tall, but skinny and needs to grow up some.

I disagree on this one. What if he wanted to be better prepared for the pros? An extra year working on his game maybe makes him into a Matt Ryan-type first year player, rather than the long litany of faceless QB's who aren't ready and flame out early in the NFL.

If this one year buys him a longer career, he's way ahead. Plus, he can get insurance for his potential NFL career.

One more thing - people said the same thing about Tim Duncan when he came back for his senior season at Wake, but his was an example of how well it can work out.
