What if tomorrow morning, 790 broke the news that Tech had a new coach, an unbelievably bad choice in your judgment. Who would it be?

I vote for Dave Wannstedt. Everywhere he goes, this man is the warm-up act for the four horsemen of apocalypse; Chicago, Miami, now his own college, Pittsburg.

Lou Holtz.

EDIT: Wreck02's post was definitely made in between the time I clicked "reply" and typed in my response....

Lou Holtz, Terry Bowden, Rick Neuheisel, The Orgeron, Wannstedt, Larry Coker....

Neat question.

Of 'legit' candidates, any of the candidates with 'personal' baggage, Neuheisel being the worst.

Of the 'real' legit candidates, Muschamp assuming Tenuta goes. Any hire that retains Tenuta is not bad.

Is it too obvious to say Bill Lewis?

My second choice would be Tater Tot. I would find the tallest building and jump off of it.

By the way, GTfanNBama, why the hell would youy think two innovative coaches like Hatcher or Paul Johnson would be the worst hire? You're a nut job.

I had a nightmare last night where DRad changed his mind and brought Gailey back. I woke up in a cold sweat.

This thread reminds me of all the rumors that Kirk Ferentz was going to be Michigan's head coach. It was believable and at the same time horrifying.

As far as "believable" hires, I would say Franchione. Somebody on the Hive actually suggested him. A former Kansas AD talked about the process of hiring Mangino and how Fran was about to take an offer for Kansas in his first year at Bama. Thankfully for Kansas, Fran told them to wait until he sees if the newly opened ND job was available. The Kansas AD saw how fishy he was and took Mangino instead. Then Fran went on to leave Bama without personally addressing his players and went to aTm, where he would lose to Oklahoma 77-0 and have a generally mediocre record while having that premium e-mail list thing.
