why it was so damn imp't to Va. politicians that VT join ACC with UVA? Good grief!! Why? Pray tell. Joining does not effect rivalry between the two. Why was it necessary to leave BE? I could understand it if Miami, BC, & SU were leaving cause there would be nobody to play.

Most states have schools in different conferences! We allowed politicians to perhaps ruin the whole thing.

At the time the Governor got involved, it did exactly appear that Mia, SU & BC were leaving. VT was hoping & praying to be the 13th ACC team. Through a series of inexplicable votes, VT was voted in with SU & BC being voted out.

I think the VPI folks convinced the governor that if the original plan went through, VPI would be dead in the football water. That was probably true. So the state got involved to prevent that and to protect their investment in VPI, and to preserve the prestige of VPI football. Two top-ten potential schools in your state is not bad for states north of Georgia and east of California. You got Michigan and...Pennsylvania...every 10 or 15 years, and that's about it.
