My boss, the president of our firm, is a rather logical guy and very intelligent. Hwe sent the following email to about ten friends and coworkers today:

"I predicted Osborne/Gill back on the team a year ago. I was just reading in Husker Illustrated that Dr. Tom wrote a letter to all the players in NU's history that are living giving them free access to his office, his phone number, and side line passes. He also put up all the All-American pictures in the football office. Callahan put them into storage. How stupid was that!! Johhny Rodgers, Jerry Tagge, Rich Glover, David Humm, Rick Bonness, Vince Ferragmo, Mike Rosier, Turner Gill, Irving Fryer, Dave Rimmington, Tommy Frazier, Grant Wistrom, Trev Alberts, Eric Crouch, Ahman Green and many many more. 3 Heisman winners, 7 Outlands, 3 Butkus winnrers and many more.

Huskers will be back and soon. Gill took the worst team in Division 1 and has them on a winning track in his second year. The UB record books have been shattered and they have three games left! Callahan took the best program in the country and absolutely destroyed in less than 3 years. Turner will bring it back!!

Rooting for the Huskers to go 4 and 9 (bold added)!"

This is a guy who grew up in Nebraska, has 2 degrees from there, makes lots of money, is President of a rather large credit union, lives in a huge home in mission Viejo, CA. This is not a UGag redneck and yet he is pulling against his alma mater.

I could never ever do this with regard to GT.

Only if I had a lot of money riding the other way, but I would never bet against Tech.

People who want their Team to lose are dumbasses, no matter what the reason is. A dumbass is a dumbass no matter if he is a ugag fan or has a phd.

The only instance I could ever think of that would make me waver is if a GT loss would somehow prevent UGA from winning a MNC.

I'm not even sure if that scenario is possible.

Let's say Boston College and Tech played eachother in the ACCCG. Let's also say that BC was undefeated and UGA only had one loss on the year. A Tech win would mean UGA could play for the MNC instead of BC making it there.

Now, I wouldn't root against us...ever, but it sure would ease the pain knowing that our loss would stop Georgie from even having the opportunity. Lord knows we have to listen to enough crap from them anyway and I LOVE the fact that "little ol' Georgia Tech" has the most recent National Championship.

THEY CAN'T STAND THAT ****.

No. Never.

And UGa has nothing whatsoever to do with GT.

As much as i dislike CCG, i cannot pull against the jackets.

If I knew that pulling against my Jackets would help us win, then yes, I would. Until that theory is proven, I will say No never.

A Georgia fan breaks into my house and holds a gun to my wife's head, says he'll blow her away if Tech wins...

...and I'll root against Tech.

Other than that, I can't really see it ever happening. And I might still pull for Tech depending who he's got the gun pointed at.

Good topic. This touches on something I have been struggling with for some time, going back to the last game of Gailey’s first season. At that time I decided Gailey would never take the program to the level I want Tech football to reach.

When you reach a point with the head coach like I have it's easy to think like a stock market player who trades in puts; betting on a loss. I quit trading puts when I starting hoping for bad news; made good money when I did but the aftertaste was lousy.

Feeling like I do about Gailey, it’s very hard not to hope for results that validate my judgment. I haven’t reached the point of hoping Tech loses, far from it. But with Gailey as coach I’ll never bet on Tech to win.

Wish to hell I saw Gailey through rose colored glasses.

Why are we even talking about this??

If you need to take time to consider this, you are not a fan.

I dunno.....I'd have to think about that one awhile.

I say this, of course, having never even met your wife. ;)

Callahan is gone anyway or will be shortly! There is no saving his job even if he wins out. And i wouldnt say that NEB was the best team when Callahan took over either. But to answer the question....

No....

NEVER.....Unless in the case beej67 pointed out earlier.

Man beej you are master of false dilemmas!:laugher:

Scenario......Tech wins tonight, loses to UNC, but beats Duke, leaving us 7-4 going into the Mutts game. Radakovich comes out publicly and says with great bravado, a large number of wealthy and influential alums and friends of Georgia Tech have pledged to buy out his contract should we lose to Georgia....and correspondingly have pledged that $4million war chest to the AA if we should win. The AD goes on to say, with that kind of contribution Chan will be assured of a contract extension thru 2014. Now what do you do, Lieutenant?

I'm no Benedict Arnold. Can't ever turn my back on my country, my family or my team.

Short Answer: NO!
Long Answer: Hell NO!
