WR Norris has left the team

Bummer. I wonder if it’s related to the coaching change, maybe sliding down the depth chart with Blackburn/Blackstrain hitting the field finally, or something else entirely.

Is this different from entering the xPortal? "Left the team" sounds a bit darker.

Like many, I'm not a fan of the free transfer rule. However, given that it exists, I'm not going to fault a backup who is barely getting any action for taking advantage of it. Best of luck to him.

I'd say the game 4-5 window becomes a big one under the current rules. If you get someone to play in 5 games then high probability they'll at least stick it out until the end of the season. This transfer thing is what it is... time to learn to live with it. Eventhough it's completely stupid and needs defined windows or something.

I like the free transfer rule. Just not a big fan of the current rules that encourage kids to quit on the team midseason.

He could have stuck it out for the next 6 games and then announced his transfer. The NCAA encouraging kids to quit after 4 games is real lame.

Yeah, it is pretty lame. But the alternative would probably be bogus injuries, mental health, etc., as people tried to get a medical redshirt. With the track record the NCAA has that might be even more lame.

This.

Some players quit when the coach is fired. IIWII.
In this case, it makes no sense.

I could understand leaving a team if Nick Saban or Dabo Swinney or some other established coach who is doing well, but if you are leaving over a Geoff Collins or a Willie Taggart then you need to reassess your decision making
