To be very good. Check out 11-3 UNC. They took care of business, won the games they should, and enjoyed an 11 win season. They beat NC A&T, Delaware, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, Duke, Pitt, Miami, Va Tech and UVA. You can win 11 and your best win against the highest ranked team can end up being Duke, Miami, or Pitt, all 8-5 teams. If they had scheduled another patsy instead of USC-E they would have won 12. Scheduling is everything. There is little penalty for playing an easy one when you win the games you should.

Scheduling is everything, huh? If only out cross-divisional rival wasn't Clemson and we weren't on rotation for FSU and ND. Meh, probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. We sucked this year!

We weren't as bad as the 3 win record indicates. Do what you mention above and there's a good chance we make a bowl game.

So.. ..drop UGA?

Every one of our hard games this year was predetermined. UNC has the triple advantage of (A) their rival being in the ACC, so they can schedule another patsy, (B) their rival being their all time cross division game, and (C) their rival not being particularly good.

They are guaranteed +1.5 wins over us purely because of scheduling factors beyond our control.

Yes we were.

No, we really weren't. We weren't world-beaters, but we were better than 3 wins and got some bad breaks.

This was very evident to me a couple of days ago as I watched Pitt's season 68% FG kicker line up for a ~30 yard field goal and basically kick it out of the side of the end zone. Of course his career long was a 56 yard game winner against us.

We got a bunch of lucky breaks/timely plays last season, and didn't get them this season. Combine that with the injuries and the inexperience and you get what we got.

It is never as good or as bad as it seems

I think the Coastal division is now done bowling, with a record of 2-3. The remaining games are all Atlantic division teams.

Thought UNC was overrated ever since their "emergence" in a mediocre division. Thoroughly enjoyed watching a depleted Baylor offense put up 750 yards on their "vaunted" Gene Chizik defense.

We got more lucky breaks last year. But we were also a much better team.

We got less breaks this year and we just weren't very good. Maybe better than 3 wins but not much.

GT 2014 = 8-12 win team that won 11
GT 2015 = 2-6 win team that won 3

2014 was a much better team than 2015, but 2015 was still a better team than 3 wins.

UNC is always over rated.

Go Jackets!

Careful, they were close to playing for a national title this season and Coit admittedly had nightly fantasy relations with their QB. If they had won all of their games this season, the ACC title, and the playoffs, they would be national champions.

Outside of the Playoffs these bowl games don't mean much to the players or the fans. They may as well go to 8 teams in the playoff and do away with these meaningless games.

Houston was a field goal away from the playoffs, as well. Like UNC, they would have been blown out in any of the playoff games.

Off-season decisions made by Stingtalk that will ensure a national title so far:

On scheduling:
Drop Clemson
Drop Georgia
Schedule more patsies
Ignore our record against VT, MIA

On coaching:
Find a wealthy donor
Fire Paul Johnson
Hire Chip Kelly
Ignore Chip Kelly's lack of national championships
Fire Ted Roof
Rehire Jon Tenuta
Ignore other candidates that coach up talent

On Recruiting:
Complain and hope that something improves
When something doesn't improve, complain some more
Wait until Paul Johnson has his guys - sometime between year 14 and 18, or, hopefully, just some time before Johnson retires
Stare longingly as the Gary Patterson talks about the 12 man rotation on Alabama's defensive line

+ Add some more majors like physical education to attract athletes.

NC State's 7-6 campaign ended with it's best win being over Syracuse. They were 0-6 against bowl eligible teams. That took some work to play seven games against bowl ineligible teams.

No matter how much this gets repeated on this by a few full retart fans on this board it is definitely not true. But if it helps you get through a bowl season without GT, have at it.
